I'm going to otakon this year as my warlock from destiny wearing the full exile armor but amidst its many trials I decided to add in this a confidence building test bond for a friend who's going with me.
He's in dead orbit, and here's his bond.
Looking at the pic some 2 immediate hurdles are apparent: 1. if the entire face plate of the bond is acrylic how do I light it without the lights/wires/power supply being visible?
2. What excuse am I going to use to measure his arm because he has no clue that I'm making this for him?
let's address issue 1 by ignoring it at first. I cut a 15 x 3 inch strip of eva foam, and plastidipped it so I to save myself some work later. Have you ever tried plastidipping things with a lot of small details? I'm sure you've noticed that getting into the cracks and crevasses is a pain; to fix this annoying problem just coast the base model first. that done, I started drawing in the tread.

An hour or so later, I have the tread drawn out, and cut out of 2mm craft foam ready to be hot glued on...... tada!

back to issue 1: where to hide the lights? I made the executive decision to take the face from the ritutal expansion bond,
I cut the sculpted out the logo and a circle out of acrylic sheet, sanded the edges so they'd glow when lit, and drilled holes so it could be mounted together with a binding post screw. Note: for all of us who suck at soldering things - I picked up a led dog collar at 5below and took the already assembled led's from it.
dip, paint, glue lights in and add velcro.
All done! When worn, it's not crooked like it looks in these pictures.

hurdle # 2, how well does it fit? I'm giving it to him tonight and I'll let you know how it goes!
