Desperate help needed for helmet resizing please :)

Hey guys wonder if you could help built a foam Iron man suit last year no problem sized it all up to scale to fit my body and it was perfect, so this year im planning on using jfcustoms speed building foam files to build the iron patriot just gone to print the helmet out ive measured my body from top to tail and recorded it all down so the distance from ear to ear is 21 cms adjusted the scale for the helmet to 210 mm wide just printed it out and it looks huge!! what am I doing wrong please. didn't have any probs with the iron man suit I did and ive read up and research you tube and the pep file sticky on here and im still doing it wrong :S

I've got the same problem too.
3d modeling are not the same. pepakura only measure peak-to peak, and sometimes (in Iron man helmet case) the ear disc can make a difference.
Iron patriot do not have the disc, that means the body of the helmet is actually pushed to the peak side.

Scaling is painful. I'd suggest to make a quick paper mock up using masking tape to confirm the size before you start cutting the template.
It save your time and material.

Cheers for the reply mate I seem to be wasting so much time and foam trying too get it right I down sized the patriot helmet in the hope it would be better transferred it all to foam built it finished it just now and the bloody thing is still too big!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr will have to be a display piece now what a waste of a day

If you want to build a suit, leave the helmet until about half way thru making the suit. Otherwise, it'll be more like this

Here is the example of paper mock up using 80gsm paper and masking tape.

It is very fragile, but you'll get the idea of how big it'll be.
You reduce the chances of improper scaling a lot.

Here's a scaling tutorial that I've used for my foam armor and I've never had a problem with it. Scaling it with Pepakura designer 3.
