I have often wondered WHY can't this place have elections and such for who is really in charge.

Is it time for that?

Unless those elected would also be willing to pay for the site, I doubt you could ever really come up with a fair system.

Do the mods we have now or in the past pay for the site? I didn't realize being a mod actually cost money.

What mic is suggesting that people who would like to moderate the nut house, post up and then we vote on it instead some random process that occurs now.

Why shouldn't we have a system in place that lets us decide who tells what we can and can't do.

Although there hasn't been one in a while.

There have been times when money was donated to pay for things.

Some folks took it as ANOTHER opportunity to slam the forum from remote sites.

But I believe those contributions paid for the site for year or so.

Of course the obsessive chuckleheads that monitor this forum for whatever psychotic reasons they have, would probably just stuff the ballot box with their lackeys votes.

Yep, you got us all figured out. It's all one big conspiracy here, that's what we'd do. Bravo for figuring that out sir!

Yeah Chris, I think you goofed on that. I'm pretty sure Mike was talking about those banned chuckleheads and their shills.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes the banned chuckleheads.

I have the utmost respect for the all mods here and personally see no reason to change.

But to put to rest all the BS that get slung from the peanut gallery, it might be a good idea to vote the folks into the position.

But as I said knowing the MO of the obsessive banned folks, they would try to pull something. It's how they are. Sad and pathetic really.

I would just like to add that should this in fact become democratic, I don't deserve a vote.

I don't pay to use this site, or bear any burden for its operation financially or technically. Whether I'm a valuable member or not is based on actions taken entirely of my own volition and I understand that usage of this site is not a right but a privilege. Because I'm not entitled to any such representation, I hope I don't get it. Plus, I can't be trusted with any such influential voting power; I'd be going nuts with the ban key in seconds. You mod-types are doing a fine job; it's fortunate that you're fair and consistent in your moderation, for if you were evil fascist totalitarian pinheads, I would have no right to demand otherwise.

Sincerely,

"Will-Take-What-He's-Given-and-Like-It"-type RPF member,

_Mike

Well said, Mike....

X2

I'm quite fond of our dysfunctional family here...I think that, by and large, the Mods do a fine job. Y' know what they say, "You can please some of the people all of the time..." yadda yadda...

Sometimes to best way to improve morale is to just fire all the unhappy people.............LOL.

If it's a democracy you seek, create your own democratic prop forum. I'm sure there will be like 9 or 11 people who will join your quest to vote on every little issue.

I'm a veteran from the original replica prop board and I like things the way they are and the way they always were.

I think of this place as more of a huge extended family........not some quasi-political congress building. I get enough of that crap on the news channels on cable TV. I don't like all members of my family, but because they are family I tolerate them and just generally do my own thing. Does your daddy let you vote on the rules of the house??? Or does he enforce: "as long as you live under my roof you'll do as you're told"?

Do as you're told seems to work pretty effectively in "our" house. If you are startin to "feel your oats" and are ready to hit the road in search of greener pastures..................don't let the screen door tap you on the gluteal muscles on your way out. When you grow up, come on back home, we'll leave the light on for ya! LOL

In all seriousness, this is not a bad place. It's what you decide to make of it. It can be miserable and it can be sweet. A long vacation will fix the miserable for the average fella. If that doesn't work, it probably ain't your bag!!!

Happy proppin!!!

Dave :)

I don't seek any change. Just thought I would ask to see what people HERE think.

There really has never been an open dialogue with the members.

Other busybodies who seem to be obsessed with this place always bring this up. They fail to realize, they simply take this all too seriously.

Sorry for my goof Mic. :(

Mic, my half hearted comments are not directed at you, but at the same folks you describe in your posts. Peace,

Dave :)

Nothing like posting where those you condemn can't defend themselves. :sick

Well, I am sure you will do fine as the current mouth piece.

Besides, here a civil conversation can occur. Not 5th grade childishness.

But to stay ON topic. It's clear the folks here again have spoken.

No one cares that the mods aren't voted in.

And I am sure this will start another round of bashing and stupidity on the "other" forum.

All too easy.

Right, because I'd HAVE to be a mouthpiece to think that lately you've been on a rude and surly bender. Usually, I find your posts entertaining, but lately, not so much.
