Deleted scene from ROTJ!

Like I said in the other thread, I was there and saw it in person. There was without a doubt that the scene was an original scene. It was not newly filmed. It was very clearly young Hamill and the effects work and cinematography were consistent with the rest of the movie. Nobody who saw it in person questioned its authenticity. In fact, I think its kind of a ridiculous suggestion.

:thumbsup

I agree

What was it? Lando's death? Dust storm scene? More Slave Leia footage?

Sand storm scene. Raw footage filmed from Ben Burtt's personal camera. He also filmed himself playing around inside the Falcon cockpit before it was to be destroyed.

They expressly asked us not to video tape it, because they were basically Ben Burtt's private home movies.

Yeah, I didnt tape it since I know Ben personally and didnt want to go against his wishes.

It was the sand storm scene with heroes entering the falcon after jabba's sail barge exploded. Pretty cool stuff. 3p0 was having a rough time of it, almost face planted with all that sand blowing. :lol

Cool! I wonder if the footage will every see the light of day on the Blu-ray release. Its a shame the Falcon cockpit was destroyed after. It should be in a museum or some dude's garage :)

I saw the Ben Burtt footage too. What was cool is Ben Burtt is actually the last person to fly the Falcon. He understood that it was going to get destroyed and filmed it for prosperity. What was funny is he played the same footage again. The second time he played it faster and more intense.

The Mark Hamill saber build scene is real. You can tell it's Hamill and original footage. He forgot he filmed it. What's interesting is weather the hilt in the footage is the same as the Elstree reveal prop. At first glance I don't think it is. Just because of the history Elstree tries to push as screne used. Also I recall the activation circuit board on the Elstree prop initiated the hilt opening up. The footage didn't reflect this. Plus the footage had working LEDs which needs space for electronics. Just my 2 cents.

Lucas said that the original trilogy films included on the Blu-Ray release will be the remastered special editions. He explained:

“Releasing the originals is kind of an oxymoron because the quality of the original is not very good. You have to go through and do a whole restoration on it, and you have to do that digitally. It’s a very, very expensive process to do it. So when we did the transfer to digital, we only transferred really the upgraded version.”
And this is where the lie becomes apparent. They had to restore the original theatrical versions in order to create the first not-so-Special Editions, so that's already been done. Yes, transferring them to digital is expensive, but it's no more expensive than tranferring the not-so-Special Editions and they're doing that. I think the truth is Lucas doesn't think the original theatrical versions would sell well enough for them to recoup the cost of transferring them for Blu-Ray. I'd much rather Lucas just admit he was never satisfied with the theatrical versions because the effects technology was not available at the time to tell the story the way he wanted to, which was pretty much his reasoning for doing the not-so-Special Editions in the first place.

The bigger lie for me is this quote: "Releasing the originals is kind of an oxymoron because the quality of the original is not very good."

Why not use the THX-version of the old movies? They were already in great video quality. And as far as I know, these masters were used for the Special Editions. Someone correct me if I am wrong...

There are some serious flaws to this whole scene.

First off, Mark states he doesn't recall ever filming this scene. Period.

Anthony Daniels recalls filming his portion, but he was alone in the scene.

Now they have footage with music and effects.

Now Mark recalls it fondly and that it was so ominous with the black cape and black glove and all.

Wait, what??!?

Black glove??? I saw no black glove. And if happens BEFORE he gets shot in the fake hand, why would there even be a mention of a glove.

And why am I the only nerd who picked up on Mark's black glove comment?

Use the Firefox browser at savetube.com

There are tons of websites where you can do that. Just copy the link, paste it, waiting for analyzing, right click and download.

Just use google and look for things like "saving youtube videos" (just in case u don't use firefox or aren't familiar with browser plugins).

When was Mark asked if he did that scene (the interview when he denied he ever did it)?

I think the idea to re re re re rerelease the trilogy on Bluray was already there at the time Mark was asked if he had done this scene and perhaps he already knew what things may come so...the usual denies.

Who will play the bad guy in the new Batman feature? Well nobody will tell you now, things are kept secret for some time.

I think it was the same here with Mark.

That's a great point.

Well when this is nice and clear on bluray we all know whats going to be the next SW-related run here (the tool Luke is using)...

I've got a real player add-onn, that pops up above the right hand corner. It's great. Just click and it opens another mini-window and begins it's download. I don't have to use savetube or other site.

Do some searches on it, it was free to install.

Oh and totally looking forward the the BR of Star Wars next year. You guys in the US are very lucky to score such events like Celebration V and ComicCon
