Deleted scene from ROTJ!

Re: Delete scene from ROTJ!

Amazing, one of those things like the sentry gun defense in Aliens that once reincorporated in the original cut really takes the movie up a notch. Really nicely done scene. Great to finally see it.

That is great to see finally!
Saved that sucker to the hard drive.

So also a small tool prop is possible from this.

I guess they want to help out eFx with sales? maybe that is why they are showing this?

I can see why they cut the scene though.

Must have higher quality video. :eek

Isn't it more likely eFX were give advance word that this prop was going to appear in a significant restored scene?

Re: Delete scene from ROTJ!

Is this new footage which has been shot for a blu ray release, similar to what was done with footage for the special editions? Or geniune old deleted footage which has been restored? Seems a bit "too good to be true" for me if its the latter. Either way, it's a cool scene!

Re: Delete scene from ROTJ!

That... Doesn't look like the Elstree reveal saber. Looks like the "I see you've constructed a new lightsaber" prop by the look of the grips, second-to-last flange on the emitter head and the black bar on the side of the control box. That one had functional LED arrows, right? (although I'm probably wrong- video quality messing with my mind)

EDIT:

Is that for real? It didn't look like Mark Hamill.

FB
Mark Hamill has stated that he was never in that scene. Must've been a double, especially with so much of his face obscured by the cowl of his cloak.

I am convinced that this scene is new, composited from old and new footage.
Mark Hamill has said on several occasions that he never made this scene.

The only part that was shot was C-3PO standing outside the cave looking in, but I dunno if this shot is the one. It feels as if I have seen this shot of C-3PO before ...
According to Anthony Daniels, he was the only actor in the shot, but that R2-D2 is supposed to beep (Anthony Daniels has said that George Lucas himself made the noises on set) and C-3PO would react to that.

Of course this saber is not the Elstree saber. According to lore, the "I see that you have created a new Lightsaber" prop was modified with different rails on the control box so that the circuit board could be slid in this scene. Most replica sabers have been based on that altered prop, and the prop we see on screen could be any one of them.
