Re: Iron Man WIP

Wow, that is about as vague as it gets. Was trying to get an idea of scale since I am new to this.

Pardon?? The standard scale is the one the files comes as 1.525 which is built for a guy around 6' ish. If you read the thread DF has for his files that info is in there, no different than what I had to do. But you should know just because it'll fit a 6' guy doesn't mean it'll fit you if your 6', you'll have to go into the scaling section in the designer and check the dimensions and measure to see if it will indeed fit you. Yeah you have to go through each piece or you'll be waisting a bunch of paper and time. And there is no set scale for these files, using Clarx or Carnage or Bens or Jucies files and they are compleatly different for scaleing. You'll have to work through it just like the rest of did. :):cool

Re: Iron Man WIP

Just found this thread, what an incredible build.

I am amazed at the dedication and quality along with speed by with you are building this IM suit. Keep it up, this is so much fun to look at it.

Re: Iron Man WIP

Which ones? I have like 20 different files, there's allot to this armor.

Mainly helmet, torso, and arms. Or if you can post a link to just the address where they are all located at... or are they spread out over the site pretty well?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!:thumbsup

Re: Iron Man WIP

Thanks again guys. :)

Because if I did that I'd get a fork! :lol

And with comments like that, you wont even get that next time. ;)

And an update on the hip pods, just a few pulls from the mold. It worked out great, very strong and super light..:thumbsup

It's alright, I understand and I won't be posting anymore in your thread after this... You have run off Dark Asylum because you felt he had no right to give advice on sculpting and now myself because you're above my stupid questions. Yes I am also referring to the rude PM I got in return. It's funny I was reading some old Iron Man posts last night on the 405th and there you were, asking quite a bit of NOOB type questions when YOU were new to all this, in January I think it was. And oddly no one made you feel stupid for asking. It would be nice if people actually passed that on. I take for granted sometimes since I am that type of person, but I guess not everyone is. They'd rather spend time trying to belittle others with pointless answers to legitimate questions because they "know" something the others don't. That's fine, some others have stepped in to help and given the answers I was looking for.

And if you don't want to field questions, give help or take criticism on your work, then don't bother posting it.

I wish you the best with your build.

Hey I tried to help you twice, I never tried to belittle you at all. I am brand new to this as you say, I don't have allot/all your answers sorry for that I guess. As far as me being rude in a PM, I sent one back apologizing and telling you way you missed posting that. :) You asked a pretty broad question I had no way of knowing what you actually wanted at all. And I posted another reply giving you the info after that.
I can take criticism on my work just fine if it's by someone who has the right to do so. As far as me running Dark Asylum off, did not happen. He TMP have a deal and brought it into my thread I asked for them to take it somewhere else . If you have a problem with me feel free to PM me and well take it off the board by all means. But don't post crap in my thread after I tried to help you out.

Re: Iron Man WIP

Finhead, I've kept up with your thread and have never seen you belittle anyone in it. Your work is top notch man, like you said, its your job doin this as body work and such, so you understand it.

So for those who come in here "whining" themselves...leave it at the door. Dark Asylum and TMP clashed it up here in the thread where it didn't belong, all because someone believed this should be done in Vaccformed plastic and not Pep.

Let the man work you all.

Finhead, still, great job. I like seeing all the progress on this and going from simple pep, to a very intricate pep job, and now to molding and casting.

Great job mate!

Re: Iron Man WIP

Awesome work Finhead! Last year I poked around with pep from the 405th for the ODST stuff, bought a bunch of supplies to do the fiber glassing, but could not get the scaling correct. Any suggestions? Also, are you printing this out on a regular deskjet or similar pc printer?

Thanks.

Re: Iron Man WIP

And again thanks guys, should have an update today sometime. Rebuilding the thigh section one more time. :confused

Thank you very much, very good of you sir. :)

Yeah scaling is a bit of a hit miss thing with some of the files. Some are built very slim or tall and once scaled it doesn't fit one way or the other, I've moded some of my stuff for this. I'll either add a piece or cut it down one way or the other, It's not and exact deal sometimes. :)
Yep straight up standard printer, whatever is cheap and prints black is all you need. Print it out on 110lb cardstock and cut, fold and glue. If you need help scaling on a file/files you have pm me your info and i'll see if I can help you. :cool

Finhead, you are a scholar and a gentlemen. :) Thanks for the offer of help. It will be sometime before I get back to pep work, but I have the supplies to get started when I'm ready.

Looking forward to seeing your continued project.

BTW, since you said you do body work, are you also painting the parts with autobody paints? (if you already said that, sorry if I missed it)

Thanks :) Yeah I'll be using Our standard Auto grade paint. It will be a tri stage Red Candy over a copper base. It'll be base clear, just having trouble deciding if I'm going to go full gloss like some of the staues of a semi gloss like the movie suit. :confused

And for any who have asked thought I'd put this here instead of replying to pms and emails. :) I'll still reply to them, i'll just put the info here as well.

This is probably not that interesting but some have asked so.
I don't use hot glue, I use SuperGlue Gel works fast and easy for me.
I hardly if ever use a Exacto knife, I use scissors.
I do not score my fold lines with a pen, I use a ruler or a "DULL" razor blade to fold over.
Here's a few pics of what I mean.
I use a standard printer and reg 110lb card stock. Print your file and cut it out.:)

After they are all folded they look like this.

After that I simply glue em up. :)

Re: Iron Man WIP
