Re: Iron Man WIP
Dude, that hip pod is HOT, really turned out great. You were right about the size, I'm 95% done my thigh piece and once I sized it up with the hip pod and the pelvis the pods needed to be shrunk down.
If you're interested, I'll probably be finished up the thigh by the end of the weekend. I'm just doing some final tweaks on the edge flow and adjusting a few verts.
Thanks, I knew I wasn't crazy. :lol Yep I'll take a set of those thighs, only take a few nights to do yet another set of legs. Third times a charm right.

cool
great work finhead ,could i ask what you used to scribe the lines on the helmet with?
Sure you can, I used a charcoal pencil to mark the lines so they are fairly close side for side. Then used a needle file to lightly score the line in, fallowed by a thin jigsaw blade. Multiple passes until I reached the depth I was aiming for. Anyting else feel free to ask.
this is truely remarkable stuff, i was reading the top of this page about the hip pod and i was going to say that i had a hip pod machined and was going to offer you castings of it but then i saw the pics of yours and there is very little difference.
i love all your machine work too, those greebles look great
Yeah I think they turned out pretty well for my first molds, just taught myself to machine last year so still getting the hang of it.
If I had to do another set of hip pods I would have machined them out and added the square piece in after. They were a pain and they still aren't perfect but I'm ok with so that's it for those.
Definitely coming along very well finhead. If you dont mind me asking, what are the thighs and shins that you are using( i noticed you said youre doing a combination on those)
For the thighs I combined the Clarx legs with the front section off the Carnage file. Then I built my own flaps that sits around the knee area. Then on the rear I cutout and built my own indented area as neither of these files were right in that area.
For the shins I used the front section from the Med Def Carnage file and the rear from the Clarx file. The knee and shin are more accurate from the Carnage file but the if you use the rear with it, it becomes too thin and narrow plus it's overly detailed. With that combo it also give about 1.5" front to back room so no problem getting your leg in and out.
All that work might be for nothing since I know DF's legs will be better in every way, Wish I had of waited. :confused
STARX, you just saved me a PM!! I was wondering that too. I have started work on DB helmet and had been reading there were some issues with carnage and agbate's thigh and shin armor fitting properly so I was curious too.
Also Finhead, did you do any resizing to the chest and back before printing or is it the same as the arms, you printed and fitted from there?
Love the progress, this is all very inspiring!!
The chest, back and arms are all the standard scale as it's built with a guy approx my size in mind, thank you DF.

and thanks.
