im a beginner also doing my fist build, and i picked this one :) and its awesome so far, i only have the brace left XD
as for your paper issue, i used regular 80 gsm paper and its worked perfectly fine, just gotta be slightly more careful with your tracings :)

It seems the MK III has more pieces, but less complex pieces. The MK VI seems to have less pieces, but more complex ones. I am trying to determine which set will be the easiest to construct.

I have completed a rough forearm, bicep, and shoulder for the MK VI out of poster board. It wasn't terrible, but I hastily made it, so I missed some of the details. I am curious to see if the pliability of the Foamies will compensate for their inability to cut angled joints.

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Hey guys!
I've never worked with paper/foam craft before, but I'm giving this my best shot.

Can anyone offer some constructive criticism for the helm I'm working on?

I tried to follow the Sharkman template, using 6mm foam.
I still need to add the top piece/sides, as well as clean up the glue spots a bit.
Before sealing/detailing/painting and such, I'd like to see what the more experienced here think! If it's terrible, it's terrible -- I'm open to hear any tips/suggestions.

If all goes well with the helmet, I'll be starting on the full suit.

Thanks :]

You will be able to get some awesome feedback on your project here mate, i'm in no position to critique other peoples builds as i have only just started myself....my only offer of advice is practice practice practice....don't feel disheartened if a piece isn't to your liking, the good thing with foam is its relatively easy to correct minor mistakes you may have.

Most people will probably tell you to start with an easier piece instead of the helmet.
The helmet is the part people are drawn to look at first so all the proportions have to be precise, try starting with a forearm or maybe a boot to get the feel of how the foam cuts and shapes.

Keep up the good work and i hope to see a full suit in the very near future:cool

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Solid advice.
Thank you!

I think I'm going to finish the helmet, then go back and remake it, if time allows.
Getting this thing done by Halloween is challenge, but I think I can do it. @_@

LOL! The story of my build! Will I make it by halloween, won't I? I have never done anything so on/off whan it comes to time! Easy looking part? Wrong! Connecting issues? :cryYou name it we will encounter it! Hope you make it my friend! Me I wouldn't make any bets, but you look plenty close!:cool

HAHA that is my build to a tee as well mate, so many jobs to do, i get distracted way too easily, i wanted to make one part from start right through to finished painting....but really what i need to do is first finish cutting out all the templates ....OMG what a pain that is.....then tracing all the parts onto foam....cutting those out(and trying not to screw up multiple times:rolleyes), the list is endless:lol

I think i need to take a break for a day and re motivate my self by looking at other peoples awesome builds on here again:cool

By the time I leave here, I'm dying to get home and work on my build! :lol

Thanks! I found if you connect the abs to the cod piece, but leave the middle out it gives it a good shape, then just Velcro it to connect it.

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Hello I'm a new member and i have started to build the Mark VI suit following the files found here but i have a question i don't know if i skipped it or did not see it but i can't seem to find the back spine foam file. I did a search looking for the normal pep file to modify it to foam but i'm not able to find that one either if anyone could point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks ^__^

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

There is a file on this thread but it doesn't seem to work with my pepakura viewer...i think other people have had the same issue too....what i think i'll do is just make a spine free hand using other peoples pictures as reference as the spine isn't that complex.

Sorry i couldn't be of more help.....good luck with your project Dyslexicshark

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

you could just use jfcustoms foam spine, hell for everything that isn't here you could use his... handplates, the spine, hip pods, maybe other stuff too :)
although...
could someone could make a .pdo in default scaling of Roys upper thigh part please?

Nice work on the helmet. I had the same issue. What you can do is cut/detach the rear back section of the helmet. That way, you can slip your head in and reattach the back with Velcro. Will look for a picture to show you.

Does anyone know where the boot shields template can be found? Or will I have to freehand it?
