Death Star II Scratchbuild

Sorry, I didn't know that. Seems obvious when you see the real thing.

I hang my head in shame.

The model you posted has its own unique intrigue. Personally, I have no idea of its lineage or history. Be curious to find out. In its own right, its an impressive model.

There is an interview of Lorne Peterson in the old SW book. He says that ILM built three different sizes of the Death Star.

I would like to read that. I wonder if Mr. Peterson was referring to the Cantwell prototype, the ANH Death Star and the RotJ Death Star?

The interview is written in Japanese. He says that the smaller Death Star was used for the scene of the Battle of Endor.

Oops! that's a Star destroyer's dome! LOL Sorry I can't delete the picture.

And I thought I had a lot of greeblies with my 2001 Space Station:unsure...well, now I know I don't:D

IIRC, when the blu-rays came out, they had some nice shots of the Death Star II. I have some nice close-ups, and I think that's what they're from...

I assume you know that the images in the movie are all flipped from the actual model right... just thought id mention it since some people don't know ;)

Yup, George did that because he felt that it was more aesthetically pleasing.

Haven't checked here in a while. So I found this pic, maybe you've seen it. I used to have the unflipped version at a much higher res. Wish I still did.

To lazy to link it right.

Got a huge pic that came with the Star Wars Blueprints: Ultimate Collection. Thanks for the pic.

Heres a link that has a bunch of pics, but NOT from the real model, but could still be used for ideas if needed.

I was thinking of lighting the dish that way. I was toying with the idea of a green laser pointer, but I don't think the beam would show up without the aid of fog or smoke.

Here are some of my personal pictures of the original model, from the 1995 Yerba Buena exhibit.

SpyderDan to the rescue!!!
Just to let folks know.... SpyderDan has the best 3 pictures of the Jedi DS that I've ever found.
After his invaluable three photos, Star Wars the complete saga blue-ray collection is as good as it gets.
