Deadpool Mask WIP

Hey everyone!
It's been a while since I've been on the RPF. I've been very busy with school and finals and what not and I'm on winter break, so I decided to start a new project.... A deadpool suit! Well, first I'll be making the mask and move on from there... This thread will be for MASK ONLY and eventually I'll make one for the suit :thumbsup so basically I started on the mask by sculpting deadpool's "eye area" with air dry clay on a white mask... I was inspired to do it this way from a guy on YouTube (don't know his name sorry!) But his channel is named 'PropItLikeItsHot' and the design of the sculpt is inspired by Todd Cook design's Deadpool masks. It took me a while to sculpt the clay, a mere 3 hours give or take, and had some difficulties along the way but I'm satisfied with what I came up with :D I'm gonna let it dry over night and I'll be sure to post more pics with my progress! Thanks! (Sorry if pictures come out a little weird)

So I woke up this morning and saw many cracks in the mask :unsure but! I've sprayed it with a couple coats of grey primer to get a better look of all the cracks so that I can cover them up later (perhaps with more clay or spot filler)

Yesterday I bought the supplies to make the mold of my Deadpool eyes :D I bought Amazing Molding Putty and Amazing Casting Resin (both of which I got at Michael's Arts and Crafts). I made the mold using the two-part putty with the 3 min working time
image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

After taking out the mold, I mixed the two-part resin and poured into mold

25-30 min later I popped cast out of mold and this Is what I got :) (after some trimming of course)

Next im gonna see what it looks like with the material :D I'm probably gonna go buy some black spray paint later this week so for now to peice will stay white. Stay tuned for more updates!

I pinned down the fabric on my styrofoam head and slipped the cast underneath, and it looks decent :) next is to get the white mesh for the eyes

All sewn up :D this is roughly my first mask and the hand stitching is not so decent haha so I'll make another mask and have my seamstress sew it up :thumbsup for now I'm gonna focus on the black color for the eyes.

For the inner mask however, I'm not sure if I should make more or not. But if you have any questions about it, email me at: Bjpgames@live.com
thanks!

that's looking really really good! Whatever material you made that mask out of it's very smooth looking. Can't wait to see how it looks once you get the black around the eyes and get that thing secured in there!

Cool really awesome
Thank you very much :) !

UPDATE: Today I took a look at the mask while wearing it, and I noticed that the nose had too much of a "point" so I decided to cut it out with my X-Acto knife and did some work with my Dremel tool. Below are the before and after pics:

Before: The nose had too much of a "point"

After: Got rid of the nose on the cast, the mask now takes the shape of my nose. More "natural" look

Tell me what you think! I enjoy they feedback :D

So out of pure luck, I found a can of black spray paint! It also so happens to be glossy black :) I gave the cast a couple of coats and I'm very satisfied how it turned out :D

And here is the cast all by itself:

Again, I might be selling casts of his eyes in the near future! If you think you might be interested or for more details, e-mail me at: Bjpgames@live.com
-Thanks!

I honestly didn't realise Deadpool was so detailed but looking at your final piece I must say bravo. Wello worth the effort you completely nailed it. Will this be part of a full costume?

Thank you so much :) it means a lot! And yes :D soon, I will be making the whole suit to go along with the mask!

UPDATE: So last night, I decided to fix the area of the mask where I will be placing the eye cast. I didn't like how the edges were rugged like you can tell you cut it. Like so:
image.jpg
Maybe it's just me being picky, haha but I decided to fix that problem. I turned the mask inside out and used Aleene's Fabric Fusion to glue down those edges, to give it a smoother look:
image.jpgimage.jpg
While that dries, I did some little work on the eye cast.

I decided to finally put the white mesh (tool) on the eye pieces to give that famous white eye look:
image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Once I finish the other eye, I'll work on attaching the cast to the mask, but that's it for now! Thanks!

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted any updates, I recently went back to school and im busy with work :p hopefully an update tomorrow or Friday! Thanks!

Finished the mesh on the eye cast :D Couple of test shots before I glue it on to the actual mask....boom :thumbsup

image.jpgimage.jpg

UPDATE: I am now gluing the eye cast to the actual fabric using Aleene's Flexible Stretchable fabric glue :D takes a while to dry, post more pics soon!

Wondering if the fabric glue shows or leaves a shiny look after you use it. Looking forward to seeing your finished pic's. If it works I'll use it on my Cap mask. Thanks for sharing.
