Re: Reynold's Deadpool version faceshield and full suit (collab with Yepiamzombie)

Hey Fett don't you think 400 dollars for 4 yards of fabric is a little over priced? I don't know how long it takes you to make the fabric or how much you spend in supplies but to be blut I've never seen a yard of fabric (even with gold woven fibers in it) run over 50 bucks a yard and you want 100 a yard? Think that's a little steep personally. I was actually hoping to buy fabric from you but not for that price. Good luck.

Custom screen printing yards of fabric is quite expensive especially because raw fabric is quite wide (40+ inches). The apparatus required to do so is costly especially since these projects aren't on an industrial scale (i.e. thousands of yards of fabric) which would bring down the overall cost. Sorry but if you want this kind of quality that's what you pay. I am having fabric screen printed for a CW The Flash suit (not thru Fett) and if you do the math out its about $130-150 a yard. Sucks but I want the quality so that's what has to be done. Fett has always been fair / competitive in pricing be it for puff painting or air brushing or whatever, and this project doesn't change that.

Fett, is the fabric for your Deadpool suit using puff paint?

Re: Reynold's Deadpool version faceshield and full suit (collab with Yepiamzombie)

That's a fair question Deadpoolx07. I myself had no idea going in that I'd be spending over $600 in fabrics and screen printing tests alone for a few yard's worth, but I aimed for high-quality and in the end I think it was money well spent. Now, believe it or not, the $400 is not even the price of the fabric. It just covers the screen printing and finishes on it. You are basically getting the fabric for free. As I said I spent over $500 WITHOUT including what I spent in fabrics, just to cover the first run which was only 3 yards. So believe me when I say there is ZERO inflation here. Other people charge actual costs (over $500 usually), which I consider more than fair, for a few yards of screen printed material. I'm trying to pass on some of the savings to people interested in my fabric by doing larger runs. You may or not remember I was not going to go the screen-printing route at first because of cost and my inexperience, but as I kept moving forward with this project, I decided making something cheap and NOT learning were both NOT part of my ultimate goal. I've learned a lot about screen-printing, custom-dyeing and patterning in this project and I consider all the money I've spent so far well worth the education I've received. And the final product, well it speaks for itself.

Anywho, just thought I'd address this for anyone else who has the same question. Deadpoolx07 good luck on your hunt for your fabric though!

RiotJavelinDX Thank you for jumping in on this as well bro. I really appreciate it. Best of luck on your screen-printing!

I've been extremely swamped to answer every question people have had here and even my inbox is a few messages from being full. For anyone trying to reach me, please email me at el.fett.projects@gmail.com and just le me know your RPF username. I'll get back to you as fast as possible. I'll go ahead and make a quick update while I'm here :) After finally watching the movie this weekend and seeing more images and closeups of some unseen angles and portions, I've had to go back t the drawing board and re-do some of the pieces we had already started on. This sets us back a few weeks on the first suit but it'll be well worth the wait. I'm excited to start sharing pics soon. The mask is also getting a few upgrades and I'm working on a set of expressions to go with those as well. Exciting!

Incredible work so far, El Fett. The level of accuracy you're pushing this costume replica too is unmatched. Those getting in on this run will have THE definitive Deadpool costume. Period. Very impressive work with what you've accomplished so far and now you're pushing it even further after seeing the film? Amazing. Those receiving these suits should feel very fortunate. The price is very reasonable for a complete suit with custom fabric.

Re: Reynold's Deadpool version faceshield and full suit (collab with Yepiamzombie)

I don't want to bog down Fett's PM Inbox with a possibly stupid and/or redundant question, so I'm posting here so it can be answered at his or any else's leisure.

I have never been interested in any costume requiring a face shell before, so I plead ignorance on this question especially: has anyone ever developed a face shell that could articulate eye expressions on some level? I don't see how a full-on wink/blink would be possible, but something that could articulate the aforementioned single arched eyebrow, or opening your eyes wide in shock/horror surprise, or a squint or the standard superhero scowl.

I know this is probably the Holy Grail of face shells, and I'm guessing if someone had nailed this, we'd be seeing them all over the place. I still am curious as to whether or not anyone's made any notable progress with something like this.

Hey Fett! Would you mind showing us the process of stitching those seams on the mask and how to make them pop out a bit? I was thinking of using some piping for the seams but I can't really experiment with limited fabric

Re: Reynold's Deadpool version faceshield and full suit (collab with Yepiamzombie)

That's a crazy high cost for screen printing, I had no Idea it cost that much. Didn't mean to come off ass a dick or anything so I apologize if it did was just didn't fully understand why the price tag was so high but now I do so thanks for the break down.

Re: Reynold's Deadpool version faceshield and full suit (collab with Yepiamzombie)

Super impressed with this! Keep up the great work!

Re: Reynold's Deadpool version faceshield and full suit (collab with Yepiamzombie)

Can I get in on a full mask with face shell?

SUPER jealous of all of you who can afford this (seriously worth every penny) and if I had the money to spend I'd be on this in a heartbeat. As it is I'm still subscribed to this thread just so I can drool. Amazing work so far.

Re: Reynold's Deadpool version faceshield and full suit (collab with Yepiamzombie)

Hello! I'm not sure if this helps at all but for a V.4 Deadpool face mask, but the shell that they used in the movie had the mouth and jaw part of the face open and just covered by cloth so you could see Ryan move his mouth when his lines were spoken. Just something I noticed when I saw pictures of the screen used mask :). I also reccomend for a smoother fabric transition that you have the fabric trail just a tad under the eye piece just so you can't see that thick break.
