'Deadliest Catch' Captains Quit Show

I feel bad for the captains and i'm glad to see them stand together and wherever Capt. Phil is i'm betting he's giving discovery the finger too. If these guys have to sell their boats i can see discovery getting really unpopular as these are 3 of the most popular captains on the show.

I hate all these reality shows anyway, so it doesn't matter to me. This was one of the better ones though and I did like they way they handled it when one of the captains died last season.

All the stations have more waiting in the wings in any of them fold. The History Channel is doing another one about driving some of the most dangerous roads. Which begs the question, what does that have to do with history?

I'm always wondering who watches some of these shows, like Swamp Loggers?

Maybe they should bring in Ted Mcginley and add a cousin Oliver. :)

I'm a bit torn. I really like those guys, and with Phil gone, I may not care to watch. I'll wait and see where this heads.

Ha Ha! Yeah, maybe a has-been celebrity Deadliest Catch? How about throwing Lindsay Lohan on a crab boat and see how she does playing bait in a crab pot.

I could see documentaries about the dangerous roads and ice roads because there is history involved with how they were built and why but watching folks nearly kill themselves driving them is dull. i'm hoping the other captains side with the brothers and Sig and tell Discovery to take a hike. I bet they had a good reason for not showing up at that thing. History channel apparently has nothing better to do. I'd love some documentaries about the maya, the inca, WW1, the french and indian war, the war of 1812 or maybe do a series on the history of major cities like Pittsburgh, Youngstown and such: it could be the history of steel towns and the steel industry. Its not like there isn't subject matter.

Insert innuendo laden bit about Lohan already having crabs.

They don't seem interested in doing any new "REAL" shows lately. Instead, they just stick someone with a camera on a boat or in a truck and let them film and call it a show.

+1..Deadliest catch was great in the beginning , now they have over produced the market..Swords , Lobster men etc. Too many and they are basically the same. I can't stand most of them because it's just the same old same old. Those captains made a killing on Discovery with merch. and other events.

I've watched quite a bit of DC. This is undoubtedly the death knell of that show.

On the one hand, I hate to see a decent show go since there's so little decent TV on these days but on the other hand, once you've seen them go through Kings and Opies once, you've basically seen all there is to see unless one of the boats sinks or someone dies. That's already happened too so I think we've really seen all there is to see from this show.

I hate to say it, but if they don't find a way to work it out and bring the Northwestern back, I'm done.

Generally speaking, I think Andy and Jon are funny, but they really can be annoying. Sig and Phil were my favorite captains and their crews also seemed to be the tightest knit and most loyal as well.

I hate to say it, but I had a feeling things would go all to hell when Phil passed. :(

My brother in law told my wife today that he bought her 2 tickets to see the three of them at a local theater. She's excited because the tickets include a meet & greet. Me.....I'm just wondering what I'm going to say to a famous crab fisherman. :confused :lol

Ask them why your crabs don't look like theirs!!!! HAHAHAHAHA.

I kinda hope all the other reality show people on these stations see that discovery can be stood up to and if they get stupid you can walk out on them. I bet more captains will be joining sig and the others but some probably won't because they like the cash.

Well.. I hate to see those guy's go.. and the show probably won't be the same with out them. They did sign a contract though.. and it's not like they didn't get anything for letting Discovery on their boats anyway.

Hillstranded was probably turning out to be some goofy spin-off that made them look like douches and they refused. They are Crab Boat Captains, not Hollywood wannabes looking for their next Geico commercial. If anyone has learned anything from watching DC is that they ALL have hair trigger tempers and will speak their minds (politically correct or not).

Boring reality shows are just that, boring, without some sort of drama to capture the audiences attention. These guys are not stupid. If they couldn't take what Discovery was putting together, you think we would want to watch it?

Also, you know the Crab Boat Captains will stand together, even if they don't like each other. DC is done without these guys... RIP
