Hey folks,

It's been a looooong time since I've actually built a model. Used to build tons as a youngling but just never got around to it recently. That all said, I've been hording all sorts of model kits just waiting for the day to use them.

My idea might be a bit far-fetched, but I think it'll be fun: 200 years in the future, a revival of old technology, mixed with the new is occurring. One enterprising group has decided to recreate an ancient cruise ship, The Queen Mary 2, as a sub-orbital vacation spot. The ship will capture the idea of being on a cruise ship, with all the amenities of the era, while safely cruising the skies and spaces above Earth.

I'm starting with an existing model base and using some kit-bashing, scratch building with styrene and resin, and possibly using found parts all to bring this idea to life. If I can figure it out, I'll try to stick some electronics in there as well. I'm still undecided about the name, but I know the paint job is going to be different.

As for build tips, I think a good one is "less is more". I'm not planning on covering the exterior with greeblies as I'm going for a more elegant and streamlined look.

As per the rules, here's a couple of shots with some of my bits, and today's paper:

Unfortunately, I think I'll have to drop out. Work got busy and some tools and materials haven't shown up. I'll probably continue this as a build thread, just not for the contest. :(

I sincerely hope that you finish it at some point. It really is a fresh idea. :thumbsup
