This is my first post here on The RPF, and I must say, I've gleaned much knowledge from those assembled. Thanks so much, guys.
The issue is this: I am constructing a Darth Vader suit on the cheap to wear this Halloween. I'm not interested in screen accuracy (YET!) so long as it's immediately recognizable as Lord Vader. I've plans to make most everything myself, including shoulder armour out of EVA foam and sheet styrene, belt boxes from inexpensive project boxes, etc...
The portion of the project I'm working on now, the chest box - has been very vexing. I've got a solution in place for the rocker switches and the large push buttons, but I've just run out of ideas on how to fake the coin slots and rods well...
So the question is this - what creative substitution would everyone use to approximate the rods and coin slots?
Also, just out of curiousity - those of you who have modified Rubies chest boxes: What do you generally do with the plastic rods, etc. you remove/replace? (Perhaps I should be saying this in the New Members' portion of the Junkyard...)
