Do they have Liquid Electrical Tape there? That works too.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - V2 Biceps Done pg 130!

Hello all. I just wanted to say thanks to Darkside501st for these amazing pep files. I've been working on some of my Iron Man stuff and had a question about the chest piece. I saw that on the back of the chest piece there was 3 pieces that are just rows. I was seeing what these are for? Are they for support or something else? I am using the Pep Paper files. Thanks for the help.

Hey everyone I'm new here and very eager to start building my own suit. Since I have no experience in using resin and all that good stuff I will most likely be Foam as I found it’s a lot easier to work with (in my own opinion). My main goal is Proportions when going into this build but I also want add Electronics and all the “toys” that the Mark 7 has.

I’ll probably for the most part post progress here, but I may start my own thread who knows? Anyways I’m looking forward to seeing all the builds and stuff that gets done here! Thanks Darkside for the Files

yes they are for support... you cut them off after the resin has cured

Perfect. Thank you. I was just sitting there like man I hope I won't be wearing these things...lol. I'm totally new to all of this. Also I was wondering what Back piece people are using? I know there is two different files for that one. Thanks again for the help.

that all depends on what you want... if you want to motorize the flaps then you download to files, the back without the flaps, and the file with only the flaps... if not, then you get the file with the back and flaps together

I'll check this weekend when I'm off. I did see a supplier of PlastiDip online, I'll try to see if I can get a hold of them too.

I noticed that there are several "pits" or small holes (imperfections on the foam) that I wasn't able to cover up with the PVA/water solution, and wanted to see if the PlastiDip will be a better solution for that. Do you think I'm going the correct route here or do you have any tips to cover the pits?

I also changed the color of my helmet (I used my original gold as base coat + Coper/Gold to top it, might change it again to just a lighter metallic gold (had no idea how confusing it was gonna be to pick the right colors for painting)

I also noticed that the red really "popped out" when I added a layer of clear, thanks to my blue base coat it now has a really cool/weird effect where its different shades of red or maroon depending on how the light hits it;

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - V2 Biceps Done pg 130!

I finished the new tester model for the Mk VII helmet. It will be a little harder to put together vs the original tester but it should give you guys a better understanding of how the helmet will fit on your head and it is still a lot easier than the full detail model.

http://sdrv.ms/1fjmRvo

It just needs to be unfolded... any takers? Post here and then when you finish I will update the first post with the finished file.

Hi Darkside, I've also had a shot at this - email should be sent shortly.

Although this is my first post, I've been lurking around the RPF for quite a while now and I must say, your work, and many others on here, is great! :)

This is also my first unfold (something I've been meaning to try for a while, seemed the perfect chance), so please let me know if there are any issues with it, constructive criticism always appreciated! :D

Thanks guys, I made a few tweaks and uploaded the new tester so I am putting the link on the first post.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Mk VII tester helmet

I'm new to this site, pepakura, and costume building. I'm going to start with Iron Man Mk 7. I haven't seen all the posts here yet, but so far they've been extremely helpful. Thanks for all the great info.

I have some ideas, most are probably ambitious for a first build. I can design and build electronics, so I want the lasers, arm rockets, surfaces, etc to all move. I haven't worked it all out yet but the wrist laser seems the most difficult, mainly because of the lack of space for the parts.

If anyone knows of some other threads on techniques, especially sealing and finishing it would be a great help.

Thanks again for the great 3D models and pep files!!!

Hey Darkside could you upload a .93 scale, letter foam MK 7 V2 helmet for me? Thanks :)

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Mk VII tester helmet

So, I finally attached the 3D printed ears :)

Today I will try to smooth everything as best as I can and I think I will finally be painting the helmet! There will still be some marks in some edges of the helmet... but I think I may try to make them look like scratches in the paint with the metal showing under it. I have spray cans of titanium/aluminum color, red and yellow... so... how do I make the metal color appear under the red/yellow paint in a realistic way? are there any good tutorials in youtube?

I will still have to attach the magnets inside the helmet for the lower piece and I want to design a 3D printed hinge system, but I can't do those this weekend, so I will try not to scratch the paint later when I put them... :unsure

It's great to see a full costume like yours! I don't know if I will ever have a complete one... at least not at the rate I'm working right now...:lol:lol
