Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

what kinda glue did you use to put your card stock together?

I went for Loctite Power Easy Super glue - it sticks really solid, but dries a little slower than normal super glue... just enough time to get the piece in the right position!

Didn't advance much in pep building these last days. Took some time to learn basic electronics and finished my prototype for the eyes and faceplate motorization!

I'll use a reed switch in place of the button, will manufacture a PCB board for the eyes and maybe use an arduino nano, but the prototype is done and is operational! Kinda proud even if it's no technical revolution! :)

I'm only halfway through the helmet and I'm already wishing I could cheat with one of those 3D printers... building pepakura is hard.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

So I have another update. I finished one of the biceps today using my 7mm foam. I put on 2 coats of Plastidip then tried it on and this is my result:

ironmanfoambicep.jpg

So my question is: Does that look small to you guys? It seems to feel okay when I wear it, and though it's not visible, the bottom part of it is about an inch away from my armpit. But for some reason, it just looks small. I was under the impression that the biceps were supposed to be overly huge due to a scaling error in the unfolding process or something like that.. (This is a V1 file, obviously.)

Hello again everyone!
I have a question for the foam build. I finished the cod and abs/rib cage (backarea) whatever you wanna call it. The Torso.
How does everyone connect these? As far as the ribs? I was thinking glueing them in a slightly over laying stacking style and then the front, where the
abs are, use velcro to connect them across the middle. How does everyone generally do this?

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

I would like you to please cooperate me with my project, according to what I've read and seen on video, I have used the equation to find the scale but the truth and I have made many models and none works for me. I made some measures and i do not know what the height should I use, I have taken two measures, one from the floor to the shoulder and the other from the floor to the head without wearing shoes. The forearm does not come with a good size for my measurements could help me with all the necessary parts in appropriate scale?

The measures without shoes from the floor to the shoulder are 146.5cm
The measures from the floor without shoes in total is 174cm
The measures from the beginning of my wrist to elbow 28cm

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Regards

nice job DevilFlash I'm impressed. If you need any advice with soldering up the circuit then give me a shout. Electronics is my job :) Although if it's a programming question then I'm the last person to talk to ;)

Btw thanks for the advice on the helmet Darkside I'll cut out the ears and cross my fingers :) If not I'm sure my brother will be happy to receive a free helmet ready to fibreglass ;)

I have been attending the uprising in Turkey so i haven been doing anything lately :)
Yesterday i was resting at home and had some to work on the helmet. Here is the result

Thanks for the help! I was t using super glue at all. That was my mistake. I just used regular stick glue. I guess i had not done my research enough and kinda jumped right in . Thanks again!

Awesome! I got an email that mine shipped out yesterday. So looking forward to getting it. It will help visualize the shape as I make the rest of the V2 model. The only 2 things I don't like are the position of the shoulders and the orange lights on the repulsors. I am gonna see what I can do to fix both of those issues.

STEALTH did a tutorial on rigging up a suit and connecting everything.

I have a guide posted in the first post with a recommended scale based on your height. Then you have to use the measurement tool in Pep Designer (right-click in 2D window and select from pop-up menu) to double check each part and compare measurements of the parts to measurements of your own body.

Most people cut out the ears. The helmet is looking great so far.

I use Aleene's Tacky glue

yeah, i hear you on those two things, but when you see it, its actually an orange LED inside the arm that travels thru joint into the swap-able hands. and the shoulders are like that so he can bend his arm up.

my kotobukiya iron man i feel has more detail in the statue. the neca iron man doesnt have as much detail because of the moving joints.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

good news on the LED in the arm... should be easier to replace then. Thanks.

I would like to thank Predator75 for being a big supporter of my work and for your contributions to this project. Your name has been added to the VIP list and you will get 2 months early access to the V2 file when they are done.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

So I have a question about the V1 foam files. Do the little protrusions from the upper forearm piece connect to the elbow piece and bicep? I can't really tell from the reference pictures, but I figure it would make sense, only it doesn't look like it would connect properly. I ordered a 25 pack of 1/2" Chicago screws (thanks to STEALTH for that little tip, by the way) from Amazon earlier, so I should get those next week. But I wanted to connect them so they were all one piece. I know about the straps and buckles technique, which I think works better with connected other pieces like the shoulders to the arms and chest and whatnot. I just want the arms to look somewhat more connected.

Yes the forearm tabs are the innermost then the elbow is in the middle and then the biceps is on the outside.

Awesome, thanks for that. So what about the lower forearm? Is that where straps and buckles come into play?

That is kind of overkill for straps and buckles. Just use some velcro to secure the upper forearm to the lower forearm.
