Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Yes! Your gauntlet post and picture details was one of the first things I stumbled on when searching how to start the project. Taking a look your site, it looks like you have come a long way in honing your skills for this type of thing. The things you are working are amazing. Are all of these skills, working with the electronics and modeling, things you learned strictly around this hobby, or do you do something along these lines professionally?

Thanks again, lol. Yes I have learned all this stuff by doing projects in this field as a hobby. I work as a maintenance coordinator in the oil and fuel industry. I pretty much run the maintenance dept for the whole company. So my job and my hobby don't really have anything in common.

I have a question about Zabana's glove.

With the the joined pictures, do I have to scale it down? It seems a bit large for the fingers but the hole for the repulsor is well centered on the palm and I know there is a small problem with the scale for length and width.

I already downscaled it from the default scale 1 to 0.95 and with a smaller scale, I guess I'll lose some details (I already have pieces that are half a millimeter).

Thanks for the advice!

I built my first hand at a .92 or .93 scale... it was too small. I didn't loose any details though. It didn't seem small though until I put the resin and 2 layers of fiberglass on the inside. So make sure yours is big enough to account for that. I made the fingers at the default scale of 1.0 and they worked out ok... they are a little long but it is not that bad.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

I finished the glove and it still seems a bit large. It fits around the wrist, seems a bit long on the back of the hand (can't bend my hand 90°) and the knuckle seems a bit wide.

I couldn't figure what to do with the "hand repulsor" thing that's not attached to the glove, so I simply glued it after cutting the edges.

It doesn't look that big. Remember you are going to loose some room on the inside when you fiberglass it. You will not be able to make a fist while wearing the glove... it is more like bending your fingers over so the tips are pointing back toward the repulsor. If you want the hand to be a bit more comfortable when in the firing position then you can remove a semi-circular section from the back of the hand at the wrist.

Awesome work! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback Dark! It's strange to keep the palm open but now I've something I can put your repulsors in! :)

Awesome work! Thanks for sharing.

I agree. Really smooth build!

Hello from germany,

i finished fiberglassing and cutted of the faceblade.

So, what do u think? Helmet to big?

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

there is a pressure on my ears.

Are the ears in common in the rounding?

Most people cut out a circle on the main helmet where the ears go. I am not sure what you mean by "Are the ears in common in the rounding?"

I just got a donation and I would like to thank the person that sent it but they did not include their RPF username. Some people don't like their real name to be put out on the web so I won't mention it but if that was you then please send me a PM.

I drew a circle arround it. that do u ment with "rounding"
If the helmet is to big can u scale it smaler?

Yes that is where the ears go. Take the size of the ear and cut a hole that is a little smaller so that you still have a lip that you can use to glue the ears on.

Hi all!

Just letting you know I started builing darkside's helmet, I still don't know if I got the right scale (0.95 file for a head circumference of22.6 inch), but anyway as this is the first time I do papercraft, I will possibly start over again once I finish it :)

I think your work is great and I hope I can get this done right!

Many thanks to darkside for making the files available!!

The first helmet cast from plastic for further completion.

Now there will be a polishing, giving of ideally roundish form and specification addition

Hey, thanks for the files, just one question. I'd like to let the laser cutter do the work for me (foam), but pepakura viewer can't export vector files.
I guess you don't have a solution for me. :/

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Hey DarkSide,
I haven't been on for a while and I'm still catching up on the thread. What's the deal now for getting the right scaling? Are you providing the password so we can make our own adjustments? Or are you just sending files for the sizes we already need?

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Hi Darkside501st, first of all thanks for all your hard work, your MK7 is awesome!

Would you (or anybody else) be able to tell me if your MK7 chin/jaw would fit straight onto the MK6 cheek (from sharkhead). Im at the point in my paper prep that I could easily redo and add the chin, I just can't bring myself to redo the whole thing :s. It would be nice to have your mk7 rounded chin and the correct lower lip indentation.

I had originally started out with a view to doing the mk6 but have since changed my mind and would like to do a foam build mk7.

This site is great btw guys! thanks

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Darkside501st, I just want to thank you for the files. brand new to the thread. I bought the pepakura designer software to scale your files, actually just take measurements. Can't open the files. I proceeded to print the files at work and guess an enlargement, has been painfull having to make things twice, but I am getting there. Helmet arm and shin so far. Laser acurate very impressive. Just a thought for those who can't use designer files would be to add a ruler to one of the pages for each piece, then when it is printed off if the scale dosen't match an actual ruler the printer can enlarged it on a quality printer till they match. I am an electronics designer and I am working on using 5 accelerometers one in each foot, hand, and head to determine movement and produce appropriate sounds from data. Hope to use volume and frequency to have it as realistic as possible. You can get X,Y,Z, accelerometers for around 14 bucks, so build should not be too expensive. Will keep you up to speed on the electronics if you are interested.

Thanks Again for all your hard work.

P.S. I have no idea how to unfold or use the software yet, but I would suggest in the pepakura files to black line all the small indents for ease, these are half the work. They can easily be cut out afterwords quite accurately. Again, really impressed with your dedication!!

Hope to be ready to for Halloween this year!
