Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **Update Jan 3, 2013**

Hello all! I'm fairly new to pepakura and costume building in general, I've been working with paper cardstock to complete a MK3 Helm and Chest. I was hoping to start a full complete suit of the MK7, I was going to start with cardstock like I have before, but reading through the several pages on this forum, it seems foam gets you a much nicer/cleaner result. So I have two questions; what is the name of the foam used/where can you purchase it? Also, what is the best way to glue them together?

I appreciate any and all help that can be given to me on my startup of my first foam build.

The foam you can use is 1/4 inch Eva foam you can find it at your local Acadamy or you go to home depot and find the interlocking foam which is thicker And the best way to put the foam together is hot glue that's the best thing to use :thumbsup

Hi !
Personnally i think foam is EASIER but nort necssairely cleaner
For an mkvii you should make a cardstock one its a lil harder but waaaaay
Better looking than foam

@Tumblr83

This information is much appreciated! But after an hour or so more of scouring these forums, I've decided to revert back to cardstock, which is probably better since I have experience with it, compared to the foam.

@omarbou1

Yeah I can definitely see it being easier, but from what I can see on some other peoples builds you seem to be correct in the fact that the best looking ones I'VE personally seen, are made from cardstock originally. Not to say that there aren't some AMAZING ones made with foam. I'm just going to stick with what I've been practicing so far, cardstock.

Yes using foam will be easier and give you a better look if you want to put less effort and time into the costume. However, cardstock will yield superior results if you have the time and patience to spend on each part to see it through to the end. Talent may also play a part in the final product. I have seen some pretty bad costumes that started as cardstock and weren't finished properly.

I would like to. I know that you guys want the suit and all have builds planned. I am trying to get it done. I have a lot of things going on now including working on the Mk VII. We will see how quickly I can finish the LD version.

So first off i like to say that Darkside your pep files are amazing!And thank you for taking time away from you family and other real life responsibility's to make these files for us. now that i said that.
Hi Im new to therpf as well to pepakura projects,but not new to doing costumes.I spent the better part of 10 years doing make-up costume,light design for a local theater. blah blah blah boring stuff.
Any ways i read through all 88 page of this thread and i might have missed something but i didn't see if the rest of the MKVII V2 was done and if Darkside was changing the scale for anyone on request.I know he is doing it for the helmet. is he doing it for any other parts yet? like i said might have missed it :confused

Thank you... I am glad you like them. To answer your question... the rest of the V2 files have not been released yet. Perhaps they will be soon.

Don't know if you've already been told but got some problem with the cod piece. Lines that doesn't align well or flaps that doesn't fit well.

You can see the small glitches on the pics

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **Update Jan 3, 2013**

Yeah, somebody else recently pointed out another unfolding mistake on the cod. I will be unfolding the V2 files myself but if somebody else wants to redo the unfold on this cod piece then I will replace the original with the fixed version.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **Update Jan 3, 2013**

Would have done it myself if I knew how to unfold files :)
