Darkside, the V2 files are looking absolutely amazing, well worth the wait. Thank you again for all your hard work.

Thanks, I am glad you approve. ;)

You have to find the scale yourself using the tester helmet. Then download the scale that works for you. If it is not already on the skydrive then you can request the scale here in the thread.

It really depends on the size of your head not your height. What's your head circumference?

Hey Mike! Since scaling may be difficult for the V2 files I was wondering if this is possible: Could you make a file wherein you combined the assembled chest, back, abs and cod and release that in Pep Designer? Like what you did in the V1 abs file, and is not unfolded but is only for measurement purposes. Or will that still be too risky since someone might extract the 3D model and claim it as theirs?

that's actually a good idea if it can be done without risk... is it possible to do that in pep viewer and still be able measure the parts ??

Yeah, I can't release any part of the V2 model in an unprotected pdo file. Maybe Tamasoft will come out with the option to scale protected files. I have made that suggestion to them a few times. They said they understand why it would be helpful and it is something they are looking into but that it is not an easy change to the program. Basically the author (me) would be able to set different permissions when I protect the file. So I would be able to say that it is ok for people to:

  • scale model
  • move parts
  • change print and paper settings
and so on. So I am hoping that they do that sometime soon.

However, if it doesn't happen before the files are released then I will make tester files that people can scale to find out what scale they need. People that have already been using my V1 files will have a little leg up cause the V2 files are at the same scale.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Quick question: Where is the scale factor number derived from? I don't see "23" in the pep files I downloaded.

I am trying to scale for my son. (Making it a little larger in anticipation of some growth by Halloween)

Currently, I reduced by 10% twice. And this scale in the screen shot shows 0.826446.

I glued it up and it fits the way I want it.

However, I don't know where to find the scale factor so I can request the new MKVII build.

BTW, I am using my Silhouette SD to cut.

Thanks for all the hard work DarkSeid. I give back in other online communities I am a part of so I know the time and effort it takes behind the scene.

The Helmet is scaled differently. I matched the scale of Sharkmark's helmet since it was the most popular one out there. That way people could draw on their previous experiences with it and everyone else's info on it.

The .82xxx number is the scale factor. It started at 1.0. Only my armor files are set at 23. You have to use the head width as a guide. Check it with the measurement tool.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Ah, ok. I understand where the 23 number is derived from now.

I took a measurement of the helmet's width in Pepakura and it comes out to 145mm.

Any hint how to use that number in relation with your file? Thanks!

what you do is, take that measurement and then measure yoor own head and if the to measurements match up then you have your size

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

First off, this is very inspirational and it brought me into crafting a project like this for a hobby. I would like to give Darkside501st a huge thanks for the work he's done. Thanks. You the man.

Also, I have a quick question on your helmet model, Dark. I noticed you prefer to keep the pepping as much ease as possible. As for the measurements go, I have a larger-than-average sized head and thus the width of my is 195mm. Would the 1.05 file in your skyDrive (with the width of the file to be 198) be a perfect match for my watermelon head, or would I have to scale it up for resin/fiberglass and the like? Taking into consideration for the after-pep factors, I would normally need to scale it up.. But you took that into consideration as well into your files so I just thought i'd ask. If not, could the scale be upped to 1.15?

Again, thanks Dark. Keep up your excellent work.

Im always glad to hear that people like my files. ;)

The only way to determine for sure if the helmet will fit at any particular scale is to try the tester helmet. So build that up at 1.05 and see if it fits. Keep in mind that the helmet is not supposed to just slip on over your head. It should be a snug fit and a section will have to be removed from the back of the helmet to get it on your head.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

hey Darkside I spotted a continuity error in your V2 model but I don't know how to past the pics to this post, so I can't show you... but it's be twine the shoulder pods and the chest... the part in question is supposed to stop paralleled with the side of the shoulder pods and not go all the way out to the sides... hope my description helps
