Dark Knight Rises

I haven't read through all the posts. And I think/hear/suspect the film will be very solid. But does anyone else have an issue going in that Bane appears physically to be so...ordinary? I hope my comics/animated TV history will not make my seeing a physically "normal looking" (not a tall, big, hyper-muscular) Bane be an overt distraction. (FOr the record I hated the "silent henchman" idea of Bane in the previous Batman film with Poison Ivy...ugh.)

I just feel that Bane by definition (in addition to his intellect and character [which seems to be well done from the little info I see via the trailers]) simply MUST have a physically (very) imposing appearance. I am worried about this aspect.

The last TV spot I saw with Bane in that new outfit he looked massive. And when he was climbing up a rope he looked pretty swoll....:thumbsup

Just my 2 cents

i agree with this. combined with the fact tom hardy is only 5.9 ", which isnt that imposing. it will probably fit in the movie, but there are other actors who might have been a better choice, physically

For once though, at least the character is being played by a real person and isn't some digitized cg freak.

I'm actually glad to see that he's not the Hulk like venom infused freak-show that he is in the comics.

Just makes him that much more 'real' if you know what I mean.

yes but there are a lot of actors that are bigger than hardy (in height and physically)
for example dwayne johnson, he might not be a extremely good actor, but really, he is in a mask the whole time, and is about double the size of hardy. im not judging the movie before i see it, but this is the one point i will be looking out for, as i liked the comic style bane

There is elements of the comic book that id really like to see like Bane however they just don't fit in to the Nolan verse.

I never liked Bane in comics, couldn't get past the mexican wrestler on steroids vibe and frankly silly appearance.
So the farther away from that they get the better as far as I am concerned.

I like the non hokey-ness of these films. No bat nipples, no neon, no pulling out a bat credit card and no sculpted bat behind.

That's one part of the bat universe that I choose to forget ever happened!

Good point.

@Monster: Agreed! It did never happen.

I too was not hoping for some overly hulkish cartoon of a character. But I was thinking that some CGI may be necessary if Bane's strength/stamina is to wax/wane as a result of his venom dosage, per se.

In other words, I would want to see any augmentation/fluctuation of strength/power represented by at least some change in Bane's physical appearance (not just the stund coordinator using cables to throw Christian Bale around more aggressively to exemplify this).

apparently, there is no venom in tdkr, bane is constantly on pain killers due to chronic pain

The trailers do it enough justice. I would imagine people saying they enjoyed it more than TDK wouldn't be much of a stretch. They'll definitely be more action here.
TDK was good but was dragging out a bit toward the middle.

I'm just anxious to see if I can spot my son in the crowd scenes at Heinz Field where he was an extra during the filming there. He said he spent eight hours in the sun jumping out seats in an imaginary panic, so I hope his efforts were worth it. :)

Too bad they won't be showing the footage of Bill Cowher making his remarks to the Pittsburgh crowd, then trying to get off the field by walking right through the restricted area where all the explosives had been set for the scene where the field blows up and the crew trying to chase him down. That was pretty funny stuff.
