Have you ever thought of offering simpler (and cheaper to make) non-working syringes? Maybe one permanently "used" and one permanentaly "unused."

It would give you a few bucks towards the functioning syringe project and not have thw work you've done so far go to waste if you can't get the mechanism in a state you are happy with.

I'll be getting one in in about a week and see if it works; if not I'll go ahead and do the above, otherwise will be able to put the working one out!
