D.C.'s The Flash (tv series)

I kind of love that we don't know how its happened. This show manages to keep us in the dark, it's mental how it does that. One of the most dedicated fan bases in todays world is the comic fiend. And to have us guessing with only a slight idea of what will happen. Awesome.

Really enjoyed this ep, fantastic stuff from Gustin once again. Really smashed it. I love that they had him start to take control. Determination. No one advised him what he should do versus King Shark - he thought about the solution and did it. Our team expositioned that for us. Perfect.

I am fairly confident that the guy who looks like Jay is Hunter Zolomon.

I can't even get my head around the various possibilities at this point without there being another rule introduced that we havent seen yet. I dont think internal show logic allows for a decent theory at the this point? Though we could go down the time travel route...but that would be too similar to Season 1.

I like/dislike the twins theory.

Jay and Hunter - twins seperated at birth...

Zoom is E2 Hunter

"Jay Garrick" is E2 Jay (The Flash)

Man in Mask is E1 Jay (non powered?)

Hunter Solomon is E1 Hunter Zolomon (non powered?)

...totally lost. LOVE IT

The Diggles from Arrow. Because it's all one big happy universe, what happens in one show happens in all shows.
 
as someone who doesn't watch arrow, those characters mean nothing to me.

and i'm looking to drop supergirl after season one...so I hope they don't add in those too.
 
So if memory serves Jay from earth 3 has no powers but is obsessed with Flash. What if he goes to Earth 1 and tries to get the team to help develop Velocity 9. I believe Jay 3 was behind this in some version of the comic. Zoom would help him to pretend to be Jay 2 so that way Zoom could also have Velocity 9 to make him even faster and then kill Jay 3 once he has it. The man in the Iron mask is Jay 2 and he is still alive because we need Harry to help steal his and Barry's speed. Thoughts?

I also saw a cool theory online that the man in the Iron mask is Jay prime. Zoom can't kill him because he is afraid that if he does that could wipe out all of the Jay's.
 
Since I stopped watching Arrow, whenever they cross over I am reminded that I'm missing shared continuity (oh, so Amanda Waller's dead?). But that's gonna happen.
 
I really think that is the best way for this to happen. I mean Supergirl has all of Superman's powers so if it wasn't an alternate universe type deal you would have to ask WTF have you been when all this was going on? I have to admit I have only seen 3 episodes of Supergirl and I wasn't blown away but I found a really genuine quality about her and her portrayal so I have high hopes for this cross over.
 
I was speaking more generally than specifically in this case though. It's true of all shared universes. Take comic books. We know they're in a shared universe, when some big world-threatening menace comes along, why isn't every single hero in flying distance not there? It makes no sense.
 
Wow... Daredevil has made this show almost unwatchable.

I wish DC would put the time, money, and talent into their TV series. To even imagine what the Flash and Arrow COULD be... Man, wouldn't that be something?

So you're trying to compare a show that's on Netflix to one that's on mainstream network tv... You know that's apples and oranges right?

If you want "dark" and "gritty" DC... Just wait three days until BvS comes out...

You missed my point.. Let me elaborate. I know that it's "apples to oranges" which is precisely what disappoints me.

I am simply pointing out that it COULD be Apples to Apples if DC cared at all about their television universe. They took the FLASH and put him on the CW network with a shoestring budget... It feels like a sitcom. It honestly does.
When I look at Daredevil, and I see a fantastic truly fleshed out story, production values, talented actors, realistic fight scenes.. It doesn't feel like a sitcom. It feels like a true cinematic experience and I think it's a damn shame DC doesn't care enough about their TV-Verse to put that kind of effort in.

Don't get me wrong.. I like the shows. I have been watching both the Flash and Arrow since day one. It just seems like as the series progress, and they spin off that spin off of the character we saw that one time in a spinoff... It degrades the rest of the series. I'd like to see them put the time, budget, effort, and passion into something worth while.

Does that make sense?

I don't know if the show did this on purpose, but at the end of the episode when Barry runs to the edge of the canyon and screams, my son said, "Didn't Sheldon do that". (Big Bang Theory)

I don't think it's a question of "caring", though I do understand what you're saying. Even when you compare Daredevil to the other Marvel properties, Agents of Shield and Agent Carter, that are on network TV there's a night and day difference.

To a certain degree, I think the decision to have shows like The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl on network TV was purposeful because DC wanted to keep its TV and cinematic universes separate (further evidenced by the conscious decision not to cast Grant Gustin in The Flash movie) because one of the big complaints about the DC movies have been how "dark" they've been vs the Marvel movies that have been more "fun".

This way they "satisfy" those fans that want a more comicbook tone to their DC heroes as well as maintain their "serious" cinematic interpretations...

I'm not saying that they're doing a good job at doing either, but that's my hypothesis at any rate...
 
I love this show, but sometimes I think the intro monologue should be this:

"My name is Barry Allen, and I'm like the slowest speedster alive. I've been outrun by cars. Not the fancy V8s with a thousand horsepower either. Pretty sure I got beaten by a SmartCar at one point."
 
saw a little bit of last nights episode.

I have no problem with Harry killing a villain to help the heroes. this makes him an anti hero. he's willing to do what it takes to win, so long as that doesn't harm his loved ones. as we saw when he fessed up to trying to gain barry's speed. Although I can def understand jesse's reaction..

So, it's my understanding jesse will gain speed. so will this version of wally. has the latter happened in the new show? I don't watch that because it just seems too convoluted. too much super hero stuff at one time.


and regarding light versus dark.

I think the tone of flash fits the universe perfectly. light hearted and funny.
Arrow, on the other hand, looks too much like a dark batman universe. I picture arrow as more as a spy story with fun and intrigue and adventure. Not Dark and gritty.
that's how the previews come off to me anyway.

the fact that flash is allowed to have fun is what's kept me into the show, and that it feels very comic booky.


I'm personally tired of dark and gritty. I've always found it boring.
