Hi Guys, :D

Thought you might like to see my CVC Cybercontroller "Upgrade", it's not finished yet (wiring still needs a bit of tidying), but I'm really happy with the end result, looks way better than the standard CVC IMHO, LMK what you think, pics:-

BTW last shot is Cybercontroller in the dark, no other lighting.

Now that looks superb :thumbsup

What sort of bulbs/LED's did you use for the eyes?

are the lights behind the lenses or did you replace the eyes entirely?

Thanks RKW, glad you like it, it took a bit of playing with but I think I got the feel of the original at least. They are LED's and are 5mm Super Bright Blues, tried Super Bright Whites but the blues looked way better.

No, the original lenses are still in there but it's a bit of a sandwich of parts etc. for the lenses, to get the right effect (not quite as simple as just sticking some LED's in unfortunately).

I also have to say when this is finished it will be a display piece only, no way you could wear it and still see where you were going.

Hi Guys, :D
Update

Finally got the wiring tidied up and the interior sorted. While I was at it I thought about what I said in an earlier post about it not being wearable, and thought why not, so I re-jigged it so that it is actually wearable with the LED's lit (you wouldn't want to do too much with it on but it is now wearable and you can see a little).

Piccys:-
This is the inside of the helmet with the extra wiring and my mods. I made caps up to cover the workings (and keep it neat) but with a tube through the LED's to the outside lens so you can still see without being blinded. BTW I've also removed the voice changer parts for use in another project.

This is a close up of the innards of the LED section with the cover removed

And with the LED's on, I may add a little seal at the outer edge just to block the small amount of light leakage there.

And finally a close up of the outside of the eye

It will all get stripped down again soon as I want to do some filling and painting and re-shaping on the helmet itself, but thats it for the eyes I think and I'm very happy with the end result. :p

Yeah, really, I'm impressed. Nice clean job. :thumbsup

I can run wire and do simple projects but when it comes down to “what resister do I use with the LED” that’s were my skill ends.

Thanks, glad you liked it.

I like to try and keep stuff nice and tidy if I can since there's always someone who wants too look round the back, LOL.

One extra little thing I've added to the set up is a decent power supply to run the lighting in the head. I wanted something would give me a long running time between changing batteries (plus I wanted to steer clear of mains). The running voltage was 4.5V so I opted to use 3 X D sized (1.5V) batteries, obviously they needed a case to go in so I thought I'd Cyberize it too, this was the end result:-

Hope you like it?

1 question.... how the heck can you see? lmao I've heard of problems with storm trooper hemlets but this takes the cake. ROTFL

That it some damn fine engraving work. You are definitely worthy of an upgrade Roughneckone.

ok how the hell'd you do that logo, lol
[/b]
Simple, a paper copy of the logo, some sheet styrene, a bit of (in no particular order) cutting sanding and filing , fix it to a plastic "project" type box, add "steel' paint job with a dark ink wash and there you go easy really, LOL.

If you look above you'll see I said that although you could actually see out of it you wouldn't want to do too much when wearing it, maybe why CyberLumic had an extra large size wheelchair, because he couldn't see to walk about much either, LOL.

sweet so you can see out but not so much still an awesome piece tho cybercontroller was my favourite cyberman
[/b]
Thanks, it was a fun project. I agree with what you say about the Cybercontroller, visually certainly the most striking Cyberman (as is the upgraded CVC), however having your leaders brain in full sight doesn't make the best sense to me :confused , "more" armour yes, "less" not so sure on that. However since Dr Who is a very visual TV show anyway I guess they get away with it.
