Hello Everyone, Just took a little break from working on my 1/270 scale Star Wars dioramas to build a custom 12" Shock Trooper. The kit is from the early 2000's, 2001 I believe, that I opened from my 12" SW collection. I purchased new from Japan now going on 17 years ago. This thing sat in the dark nearly all that time until I got the bright idea to build him. I was just going to do it straight from the box as it is pretty well detailed and weathered. At the same time, I was looking to expand some of my 6" collection when I came across a photo of a Shock Trooper from the SW Battlefront video game and thought that might be a challenge to try and replicate. Now, SideShow Collectibles has this figure for sale, but I was really curious to see if I could pull this off vs. just buying it ready to display. The helmet is all done with pinstripe and heated with a blowdryer to fit all of the contours. The body was airbrushed using Testers Model Masters, Guards Red. Taping this out for painting took nearly 3 hours. Might not look like much, but I wanted this to go right the first time. Building took about 4 hours - anyone who has ever built one of these TOMY/MARMIT kits knows how fragile the body can be and if you don't keep the hairdryer blowing on hot while you fit the pieces, you will end up with one limp/broken figure. Anyway, I also built a custom stand with LED lights out of a touch LED light, PVC pipe, a drain strainer, and an action figure stand for about $20.00 and I am very happy with the results. Hope you enjoy...
