TOMY TOS Enterprise from 2023

Having had the TOMY Enterprise on display for last 10 months or so I noticed that the left Nacelle is starting to sag a bit toward the rear. It seems to now show some play where the left strut connects into the engine pylon. Even the right one seems less snug than when first unpacked from the shipping box. And no, I’m not playing with the thing!

Anyone else seeing this issue with Nacelle sag?

I haven't had this problem, although I am paranoid about it happening. That is disappointing though, is there anything you can do to hold it in position? Sure nothing has broken somehow?

I’m beginning to think these all are susceptible to this wiggle and droop especially because of the die cast weight. Having to change out batteries has made me have to carefully invert the ship from time to time. Maybe that stress of inverting the thing has caused more stress on the pylons and created this “play.” That was my approach to changing the batteries under the saucer, as it’s hard to change saucer batts in its display configuration.

TOMY is ok with replacing it but what will I get instead? This unit is very nice otherwise (ie: seams, paint job, plugs are tight, nacelles are working well). Will I create other problems for myself…

You should exchange it. I have not seen anyone else with this problem. Mine was fine before it went off to it's new home.

I've flipped mine each time (twice I think) I've had to replace the batteries too, but it doesn't seem to have caused a problem.

I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem either, BUT each and every one has its own unique little flaws, so it's quite possible that whatever it's exchanged with could have some kind of defect. That said, wiggling nacelles is a pretty bad one, so I agree that it would be worthwhile.

I’ve changed the batteries once since last October and I kept the model on the stand. The dish was a little tricky but I was able to raise them up and hold them in place while I reinstalled the battery door.

I may have to start practicing this technique!

Nah, She knows the Refit is my baby and I love her just a little bit more than it.

RIght now money is just super tight so choices need to be made. I also thought I would eventually have more room, and I need to accept that that is not going to happen.

Out of money and room right now. That may change in the future as far as money. I may come out of retirement, but I don't think I am ever gonna have more room.

This is what scares me:

Yes, Tomy knows the Refit will likely be their biggest, but they know they have tapped into something.

I truly believe they will do A, D, and E for sure. Hopefully Excelsior and B. With the tech they have developed for the Refit finish these others would be very doable.

My fear is where am I going to put them. I can live without the TOS, but E, Excelsior, and if it's 1:350 D will all have to be mine.

A Reliant would be sweet as well.

God help my space and wallet.

Well, you'll get space in your wallet.:lol: There...don't thank me:p:p

Yeah you guys should not have to take the thing off the stand. The more these things are handled off the stand and inverted every which way, the more they will be susceptible to loosning parts. These models are great and all but they will not last forever. The nacelle motors will eventually fail and constant temperature change and moving of the model will cause issues. Enjoy it as a display piece as long as possible but leave it as a display piece. There is no reason to have it running hours a day and changing batteries multiple times a year.

It would have been so much easier if the saucer batteries had a clip to hold them together. Putting 4 batts in and fighting gravity while on its shaky stand is a bit of a challenge!

I would just take the saucer off or maybe a small piece of blue painter tape to hold them while finagling with the batteries.
