Custom 80's slasher costume (Jason inspired)

With halloween on the way I've decided to get round to puting together a costume I've thought about for a long time - my own maniac costume inspired by 80's slashers - in fact it could be thought of as an extreme Jason Voorhees makeover.

Instead of Jason's famous hockey mask, I've always like the vintage Mylec hockey mask - so I picked one up, sanded it with coarse sandpaper, cut it with a stanley knife and weathered it up.

I paired it with a cheap(ish), good-quality full head halloween mask - "Prince Charming" from Don Post Studios - this one's especially good because it has no slit up the back and it just looks like an 80's slasher.

At the moment I've got it on a display head with some spare plastic eyes I had.

The rest of the costume is to come.....

Chris from Twisted toybox likes it too. That set up was in his mask line up this year!

Yeah, I saw that a few weeks ago. I've wanted to use this hockey mask as a slasher mask for about 2 years now but never got round to it. Seeing that Twisted Toybox beat me to the punch was one of the things that prompted me to actually get off my backside and put it together. I love their version, but the lack of eyes and facial features behind the hockey mask really put me off. Plus I wanted a REAL plastic hockey mask, not a latex one.

I always have loved that hockey mask too.

It was my first Jason mask. Funny how when you are 12, it looks just like the one on the screen.

Got a pic of the undermask?

I considered a flesh hood, but the size of the openings in the hockey mask really mean that there has to be facial features (especially eyes) under it. I then considered some of the great deformed hill billy type masks and zombie masks that I came across, but in the end I decided to go for something a lot cheaper (like, half the price) - I also didn't think it was worth getting a REALLY nice mask as you're not going to see much of it under the hockey mask.

I just wanted something that covered the full head, preferrably wasn't split up the back and looked kind of deformed/mutated. In the end I went for this:

And until most promotional images of masks, the mask that arrived actually looks EXACTLY like the mask in the picture.

Working on weathering up a shirt, will have more to show soon.

LOL I love this.....UBER cool. That mask would look so cool chrome...but it's cool as it is too. What sorta jacket you thinking? How bout a vietnam era army jacket?

Giant garden shears would be a cool weapon;)

Your hockey mask really reminds me of the Humungous in Road Warrior if yo painted it to look like metal. For future projects. Your slasher came out good.

Now, to track down this style....

A quick pic of me wearing the undermask (pic taken with flash):

I've been working on the outfit - shirt is pretty much done. Will be worn over a black long sleeve T-shirt, with a padded body-warmer underneath to add "muscle" mass.

My machete also arrived this morning (keep in mind that I'm in the UK it's MUCH harder to get hold of decent halloween stuff than it is in the US). I've since repainted the whole thing and wrapped the handle in leather. The photos were taken with flash so it doesn't look that great, but I've used a Humbrol metalcote paint on it and polished it up, so it actually shines and looks like real metal.

Would like to add blood to the machete but don't want it to look too corny - anyone got any good tips?

Full costume photos (not the best as I took them myself at arm's length) - this is minus the leather gloves and trousers I will add:

Nice dude! Just thought I'd share a mask I hand carved for a homemade slasher film I'm making.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread:angel.

I just saw on old Slashed film that reminded me of this. it's called Bloody Murder. the character's name is Trever Moorehouse.
