Custom 1/6 Aliens: Cpl. Dwayne Hicks

I havent posted much on the RPF since first signing up, largely because alot of life stuff prevented me from enjoying this great hobby. Anyway, I do have this modified Hot Toys Hicks 12" figure that I finished about 6 months back, thought Id share it here and finaly start contributing a little.

My aim was to modify the stock Hicks figure to make it more screen accurate and faithfull to the character as he appears in the movie.

Changes included:

Weathering the armor; Fading the bdus; Painting graffiti on the back; Changing the knife; Painting the M40 grenades; Scratchbuiling a USCM headset; Upgrading the headsculpt and later, replacing the body with a rubber armed DML nude.

The headsculpt was cast and painted by Les Walker, an extremely talented artist. This is the modification that really sets the figure apart form the stock version.

Very cool. Looks great. The face is a very good likeness. The arms a alot better now without the joint, think you should try painting his arms up though.

I made the headset out of sheet styrene, wire from a paper clip and modeling putty, using screengrabs of the movie for reference. I really enjoy working in this scale but it can be frustrating . . as Eagle said sixthscale can be quite fiddly.

Im currently working on a sixthscale Weyland-Yutani Commando from Alien 3. Its quite a challenging project because the vast majority of the component pieces (helmet, backpack and armor) have to be crafted from scratch.
