Hey everyone, I have a ton of awesome projects I'm working on for CON season right now and I wanted to start sharing some with you all! This WIP is for a "Cubone" cosplay I'm helping a friend with and it consists of a wearable Cubone skull and a bone club. I started with the club since it seemed like the easier of the two pieces, after looking at tons of pictures of cubone I deduced that the bone it holds closely resembles the bottom side of a human femur bone;

So I dug around the interwebs and found a great base model to work off and took it into zbrush to sculpt it into the shape of cubone's bone and this is what I ended up with;

Next I scaled it up to around 19 inches long and sliced it up into 3 pieces for easier printing, sliced the models up in Simplify3D and sent them off to the printers! After all 3 pieces were finished I started the assembly process;

I like to print in ABS because I'm able to use an Acetone/ABS slurry mixture to actually fuse parts together instead of just adding a thin layer of glue to hold them in place. Additionally I'm able to brush the slurry mix over the entire object which dramatically reduces the appearance of print lines and defects, and brings the overall sanding time down a lot. So after everything was assembled and hit with the slurry mix I sanded the whole thing down a few times, using a finer grit every time until the surface felt completely smooth. Next step is to prime/sand/pime/sand repeat;

Now that I had the finish to my liking I hit it with a few coats of an Ivory colored spray paint;

Today I'm going to be weathering the bone and maybe adding a clear coat, not sure yet. I'll post an update when I finish weathering it though! Now that the bone is almost finished I started to move on to cubone's skull. I picked one of many 3D models that are available of cubone's skull online and scaled it up to fit an average sized head and then chopped it up and started printing! Here is a picture of the parts I currently have finished;

I'll keep everyone updated as I go! So any questions? Comments? Concerns? :rolleyes
