Crackerjazz' 1/10 Lunar Module LM-5 Eagle Ascent Stage

i sent this build as a link to my grand father, worked on the original back in the day (also the Manhattan project) pretty intense guy. Thought you might like what he said to me, in loose quotes he said that you are nuts, that this thing was damn near impossible to build full scale with nearly unlimited money and the brightest minds around, you tell this friend of yours that i am impressed and truly happy to see some of the details most over look. this guy doesn't give complements lightly, hell i am his grandson and i don't even remember the last time he gave me one. just thought you would like to hear that a builder likes your build. keep up the awesome anal work sir i am myself awed.

I cant believe this thread. The bar just keeps getting higher and higher.
I just spent the past 20 mins or so going through the photos and resizing them on screen so they are as close to 1:1 scale as I can make them. In almost every case I had to reduce the size of the pictures considerably. Give it a go people - it really makes you see this build in a whole new light.

Oh to be that gifted a builder.

Katsu-san, thanks - nothing insane here of course compared to your brand of detailing. Metal wood - really appreciate it, - wow, your grandfather's got some serious experience under his belt I'm truly impressed - tell him thanks! To have worked first hand on those projects and especially the LM must have been a really amazing experience. Very interesting link, Mike J! NikonD80 - I hope I don't disappoint you with the rest of the build : ) Jccarlton, you got some pretty serious stuff in your workshop - saw it in the other thread, thanks for watching!

Yeah, well, I find it's easier to collect tools than to find the time or effort to do what I would like to do with them. I dont't get the practice to get to you level. wonderful work BTW. The tables at verious shows make it really easy to pick up stuff cheap. I wanted the mill for a long time, so about ten years ago or so after finishing a contract(I'm an engineer who works contract) I bought the setup from Sherlime which included the mill and lathe. The mill is useful for making accurate little tools and jigs quickly. I've made clamps for cutting plexi so that I can mill plexi shapes which I'm using to back a paper kit of the local watering hole, donovans. The last couple of years were tied up with creative energy at wrk pushing out three major engineering projects and then i got laid off and have to look for soemthing else with the roller coaster that involves. Plus the bench has collected some repair jubs that are roundtoits that need to be cleared off. I did start a North Comorant that I would like to detail and a friend sold me an entire Evergreen rack from his old store, so material wise I'm in good shape. Now just to find something I REALLY want to build with a deadline that forece me to finish it.

If I were you and could get the comment metal wood-san did, It's going to be the treasure of my life.
You are doing a great work.

Guys, thanks for your encouragement and kind words! :) JCCarlton thanks! you've got the works - so it looks like more projects just around the corner : )

This build is in a league of its own.
I simply don't get how you shape those small parts so accurately. I'd have trouble simply cutting out that paper disk - although I do take some reassurance from that fact that there's a nice large hammer in the background of some photos :D

Strode, Nigel, Katsu-san, SofaKing, Gag, NikonD80, Bob - thanks for your kind comments, sirs! NikonD80- the hammer, yeah - anything I could get my hands on that will do the job :) Hey Bob - no man - I don't even know how I do it. I'm just adding the details oh so slowly. Thanks for the encouragement!

I honestly think That you, Katsu and The Nylon Gag, are the three best scratch builders I have ever seen......

Stunning workmanship and a beautiful, beautiful piece....

Sorry I haven't been around much lately :(
