Cottingley Ephemera

I recently did a small run of Cottingley mummified corpses and wanted to offer some paper props to add to the credibility of them.Searching high and low online I could not find a single clear map of Cottingley or the Birmingham area so I purchased some LARGE files of vintage Ordinance Survey Maps dating 1893,1908,1935. and I'd like to pass them on to others without them having to buy them as well!

EDIT: Other paper props to go with anyone's Cottingley fairy projects are added down the thread :) (Maps, letters from Arthur Conan Doyle, custom letter to tie it all together)

You can open them up in Photoshop and then save to whatever format you wish, including JPG.
If that's not an option, you can send em over to me and I'll convert em for ya. :thumbsup

I'd love these! could you post pics of the corpse props too?

When I can get to my next run of the Fairies I might offer one as a trade for an aged copy of one of my maps, with the cottingley photos and a handwritten letter prop. I have all the text down to bring it all together, just need someone with nice handwriting. (Not condoning selling my maps to others! I just want paper props from someone with more experience at making them than me...)

Just wanted to let you all know I got the files, I just need some time to scale em down. They average about 26mb's per map! :eek

Updated with 2 versions of a letter to go with a Cottingley Fairy prop.

Aw dude! These look great. I found the same maps on a website and have been wondering how to work them in. Love the letters:)

Re: Cottingley Maps 1893 - 1935

Just a quick thought. There are some reasonably good high res pic's on the net of the origional photos. They still have copyright in the uk but using them as part of a creative/artistic package is fine so eventually for my own one I'll get a set together with some other paper props. You shouldn't hesitate to use them. These days "gaff" can easily be argued to be artistic.

Re: Cottingley Maps 1893 - 1935

I was definitely going to print some of the photos and age them. I just need to find a good photo paper that looks right or atleast "good enough".

I made up 2 of the letters from Arthur Conan Doyle with the correct gentleman's club letterhead. All you need to do is cross them out with a pencil like the originals, more to come down the road.

Elsie Wright letter:

Yep, it does. Cheap as chips on amazon. I only ask because it has copies of the Doyle letters, the replies from Wright among other things.:)
