Cosplay: Imperial Guard

Greetings and Hello!,

Iv'e been watching the RPF for many years now and have always wanted to make something myself, recently me and some friends have decided to attend our first convention (The London MCM Expo) taking place in May and I decided I wanted to cosplay as something from the 40K universe.

Initially I thought it would be awesome to attend as a space marine but, realized this would be un-achievable as I only have 6 and a half months to builds this things and Space Marines are like 9 foot tall.

Anyway getting to the point I decided I wanted to go as a Cadian Imperial Guard soldier. (Pictured below)

As you can see they have a little Armour which is why I thought they would be a good pick as it would be challenging but achievable.
They are also armed with the weapon below which would be nice to have but not my main priority.

What I'm asking for is people who have any experience with similar builds and would they be willing to share some information and tips with me. For instance, I'd like to know what you pro's would recommend making it out of (Eg a resin mold, Pepakura etc...), also if you wouldn't mind sharing images of any similar builds you've made yourself to influence me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

There is a scale pep for a Space Marine. I think it's built for someone around your height as well! What also might be cool would be a Kasrkin. Sort of an in between. Just a thought

I'm no expert, but I do like pep for the reason that it usually works pretty well, and if not you can use it as a reference and make it out of something like sintra board.

Again, I'm no expert, but there's some people here who seem to know every great shortcut to making things work great. Hopefully they respond as well! Oh, and check out the people at Obscurus Crusade. It's dedicated to WH40k builds.

I've seen a few IG cosplayers, and I think your best bet is to make the armor out of EVA foam mat. If you want to bevel the edges a bit, the foam is sandable and it will be flexible enough.

Thanks for the tips already guys! I found Obscurus Crusade really useful. Was wondering if anyone out there knew about any materials that appeared metallic yet, was still light-weight? I want to make something that looks really realistic.

hey there jubjubj a buddy of mine made his Imperial Guard & jango fett armor out of sheet aluminum he got from homedepot he used the pepakura files as template it came out looking good all the battle damage look awesome good luck on your build
