I saw that, but I thought the word should be spelled "pereat", not "piriat". *shrugs*Originally posted by LeMarchand@Jul 21 2005, 07:59 PM
the wording around the finger holes reads "fiat et piriat mundus piriat et stitia". The outer ring is mirrored.

Is it just me, or does the "gold" overlay on the spear look suspiciously like fiberglass cloth. I know this stuff isn't made for close inspection but come on, have some pride in your work

It's meant to be gold coloured cloth. The detail is explained in the DVD documentary, based on changes that happened to the 'real' Spear of Destiny through history, which was extensively photographed, and exactly replicated for the movie. So I think they had more than enough pride in their work, actually.

^Correct.^ Here are some Hi-Rez pix of the actual "Spear of Longinus", on display at the Hofburg museum in Vienna, Austria:Originally posted by LeMarchand@Jul 22 2005, 03:20 AM
...I believe it shouldn't be cloth but gold. I will look in the book for more info. The pictures i have seen of the real spear shows real gold rather than cloth...
