Connor MacLeod's broadsword from Highander

Has anyone made Connor's sword (before he had ramirez' katana)?
The one that ii marketed is amazingly inaccurate: the pommel is wrong, the wrapping is wrong, the shape of the blade is wrong and worse of all the guard should have interwoven celtic hounds not dragons.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

I know the guy who owns the screen used original.........
he actually posts here frequently....

but no.... no one makes a accurate replication of it

Yup, that's the one that The Wolf is talking about... it's amazingly, disappointingly inaccurate, even to the point of being far more on 'an homage to' rather than 'a replica of' the original prop.

I've had one for years, and I would have shipped it back immediately upon receipt if I'd had enough faith in The Highlander Store to refund my money... major, major disappointment when I was expecting (hoping?) to open a box with somewhat of an accurate replica in it...

Always did get me P.$$#D off when I found out they copied the Braveheart sword's pommel for this horrible "reproduction". Can't they just make a GOOD LOOKING wall-hanger?

i really wish someone would duplicate it...
prehaps i can talk my friend into getting molds made of his screen used hilt

I see others feel the same as I.
Rayra, nice photo reference. :thumbsup
Noeland, the links help show how off the repro is. I forgot about the little things like the crossguard ending at angles instead of perpendicular, the raised design instead of engraved, etc. :angry
One of the things that appealed to me when I saw the movie at the cinema (yes, I'm one of the few) was the great design of the swords.
David Stokes, even some nice photos or measurements of your friend's original would be excellent. :D

I've sketched the sword many times, hope to make it some day and hang it with a MacLeod tartan behind it.

On a similar note, has anyone seen any good shots of Kastagr's sword?

Sincerely,
The Wolf

Can't be sure, but I swear he used a kung fu sword, often referred to in HK flick as a machete:

You know, it never occured to me until how just how friggin' wide that cross-gaurd is on that thing. Makes the grip and blade look shorter and thinner. From far away, it'd look like a broad-bladed rapier IMO. Anyone else notice this?

P.S. I must say that the "idealized" replica sold today does LOOK better overall than the original, yet the original has its good qualities too and that makes them (give or take a few points) equals IMO.

David,

Any updates on possible molds for these?

i actually DID speak with my friend who owns an original....... apparently there are only TWO of these heros in existence that we know of........ he owns one, and he has an acquaintance that owns another..... they have sort of entered into an aggreement NOT to have these reproduced in order to solidify their rarity.... I honestly cant blame him. If i owned a super rare prop, i wouldnt want everyone in the world owning one....

SOOOOO this means if anyone wants a accurate repro, they will have to do research based off pictures ect and have a swordsmith Reproduce it..
I was considierng having one made but have MY last name on it instead of macleod. lol

I saw an original on yourprops.com, but the rusted looks makes me think it's from H3 rather than H1 like it says in the description. Doesn't look good enough for restoration and replicating though but it's the closest to the one we're talking about IMO.

Castyger's sword

Hey Jumpin Jax, that kung fu sword is also the one, or one just like it, that Alexi used in the Highlander series episode "Sea Witch".
