Concept art for Angelica Teach's costume came out yesterday from the book The Art Of OST.

Its a better version for her character in my humble pirate opinion.

This is a costume I am going to make! :thumbsup

I like that the hat appears made from straw.

I wonder if Disney vetoed the hat with the knife? Elizabeth was considered a Disney Princess and I suppose Angelica will too.

The only thing I don't like is the belt over the jacket, would hate to be wearing this costume on a hot day. I personally like to have costume that is comfortable.

I am not sure if this look would have suited Penelope , Kiera definatly! I sure Penelope had a lot of say as the actors do and while people from North America refer to her look as Ren Faire, Penelope comes from a different culture and would see her look a little differently. To me the concept costume is more pantominish but it is a movie after all.

Unfortunatly the coat would require a greater skill in sewing than what I am capable of. And it doesn't help that I have no waist. This costume could really look fantastic and so I would be interested in reading progress reports and seeing the pictures.

I'm going to play around with some colour schemes in photoshop tonight. I REALLY cannot wait to start this one now... I feel like the costume was made for me! I love the dagger in the hat, I love corsets, I love drapey long shirts, I love fitted jackets and I love wearing my waist-belt over all of those said things. Oh, and I love that there's lapels but no real collar. I HATE sewing real collars. Haha! Will post some colour options for inspiration when I have them done up!

I like think burgundy would be a nice choice as you said on FB.

Ashton/Nightcraft leather has made a couple gorgeous hats for me, and I've bought leather goods from him too. I've pm'd him about the belt since he commented on the pic. i'll let you know what he says...

Also the hat does look like straw, but I may go wih felt.

Okay, I think I'm going to go with a dark brown with tobacco colored pattern fabric... like the pic... And as I said, a felt hat. Brown boots, maybe suede? Gotta get lots of buttons, any suggestions?
I can't wait to start looking for fabric something other than paisley!

I can totally cosplay as this character... So many friends have told me that I resemble her.

Just can't afford to build this costume.. looks expensive as heck

I found this a couple months ago and posted it an Angelica thread on another forum. It matches movie Angelica's second coat and could provide a slight connection between her concept costume and
the movie costume if I used it. I like the idea but I really dont want a coat in black ...?
Or should I go for it?

Considered ye olde strip and re-dye? Ye know how black fabric is, the color will jump right off it just in regular use when you don't even want it to.

Have you already purchased the fabric? That place has it in white.....
Easy peasy to dye that, especially since it is 100% cotton.

I've been at another forum posting things I have bought and will be getting for this costume.

I've also decided to make a waistcoat and a corset, then choose which looks best, later.

After months and months, here's the coat so far...

Cuffs still need to be added, and the buttons are on order

Also working on the corset, and full waistcoat.
