Conan teaser - Anyone catch this?

:confused I think tinseltown has just run out of ideas... Looks suckilicious... The original was awesome..
Sounds like someone who's never read the books.

"I live, I love, I slay. I am content." - That is straight outta Robert E Howard. That gives me at least a modicum of hope that they might actually try sticking to the original character.

Yeah, it definately looks like they are going for an adaption of the books, as opposed to a remake of the Swarzenager(sp) movie. I for one am rooting for them 100%. I want this to be good in the worst kind of way.

That said, I have no faith at all that it will be any good. Both the writer and director have nothing but bottom barrel films on their resumes and everything I've seen either of them do has been cliche ridden and boring. And the film is being released in August, the traditional dumping ground for crap movies.

Too bad. They have the respect for the material and the right attitude, but it doesn't look like they have the talent or intellect to pull it off.

Oz

Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat, Oz... hoping for the best, expecting the worst. Still, I'm so in love with the Howard books that I'll still see it day one and buy the Blu-ray and all that.

Don't think I'm badmouthing the Arnie film too much, though.. I have an Atlantean sword in my living room.

Nice casting, Jason Momoa is a great actor, loved him in the stargate atlantis series. Nice to see him in a big role.

I'm glad my wife didn't talk to the first girls I had sex with, because she would have thought I hadn't learned from doing, much like the criticism that you're not going to like future works based on past efforts from the writer and director.

I sure hope this is good.

The director did Pathfinder. I never saw it but from the trailer and photos the guy is able to capture the Frazetta aesthetic pretty well!

If he can nail this kinda thing with Conan, I'll be first in line no matter how sucky the script.

Has anybody seen Pathfinder? ANy good?

Also as a Robert E Howard super fan I thought I'd post the entire passage that quote from the trailer is sourced from-

"I have known many gods. He who denies them is as blind as he who trusts them too deeply. I seek not beyond death. It may be the blackness averred by the Nemedian skeptics, or Crom's realm of ice and cloud, or the snowy plains and vaulted halls of the Nordheimer's Valhalla. I know not, nor do I care. Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when the blue blades flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and priests and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content.

I honestly don't know much about Conan aside from the Ah-nold movies, but I'm hoping this is good. I do like Momoa's gruff, unsophisticated voice in the teaser. I was deathly afraid he would sound all prim and proper. I just pray he'll be able to nail the voice consistently throughout the film.

I hope this movie doesn't suck. God awful teaser, though. Somebody just learned particle effects, lol.

@Nick daring: Pathfinger was... OK. Visually, it's very pretty (and lord knows I love seeing Karl Urban running about half-naked), but the story's pretty thin.

I heard the end has Nick Fury showing up asking him to join the Avengers initiative. Can't wait.

I heard a while back Arnie was going to be in it as Conans father..anyone know if this actually happened?

Boy, some pretty harsh opinions based on a poorly-made teaser trailer that's only 1 minute long and doesn't really show anything.

I think it's based primarily on Hollywood's tendency to NOT create something good out of an already-established franchise.
