Comic vs Movie, Which Spider-man suit should I make?

Hey guys, long-time Spidey fan here. I’ve been wanting a suit for a while now, but I can’t decide between a comic suit, or the new suit in The Amazing Spider-man 2.

Comic:

TASM2:

For both suits, I would buy a pattern from Orhadar, get it printed by Fabric on Demand, then send it off to TrophyWife to be sewn, and get some TASM2 lenses from TJack.

The only difference between the suits would be that the ASM2 suit would have urethane spiders, puff painted webs, and maybe a puff painted brick pattern.

The comic suit would be kept with the flat/printed webs and spiders.

In my opinion, the TASM2 suit looks a lot cooler. However, it would also cost more, be much more difficult, take longer to make, not last too long because the puff paint will eventually crack, and probably be outdated in 2016 when The Amazing Spider-man 3 comes out. Plus, EVERYONE is going to be making one of these suits.

On the other hand, the comic suit would cost less to make, require a lot less work/time, and never be outdated. But it wouldn't look as cool as the ASM2 suit

Which suit do you guys think I should make? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!

You can still puff paint the comic suit, haven't seen that done yet to be honest, and would be a unique suit in its own way and be dateless too.

Although I love the look of the amazing spiderman 2 suit, I'd love to see a comic book suit made with the webbing under the arms too.

Go comic. The classics never go out of style!

Hmmm, I could. I was thinking of just darkening the lines like Lunaman did, but puff paint might look pretty cool!

The film versions are very cool, but comic Spidey suits seems to be the one that translates pretty well in real life. Maybe you just use the lens and urethane spiders, and nothing else is raised. A slight hybrid. But I'd also want both suits as well. :unsure

There's no denying the beauty and overall effect of a realistic / movie-style Spider suit. But, from a fellow web-head, I've taken a liking--preference, even--to wearing the more comic-style suit.

First off, pretty much everyone goes for the movie suits. The thing about movie suits is that, imo, the colours are always so flat. I like me some serious saturation to my Spidey hues. I've yet to make my own suit, but the "deluxe" Spider-Man costume made by Disguise is pretty damn nice. It's got the comic style, and the colours are really nice. I made my own frames and glued them to the mask (which I bought separately) and plan on puffy painting it. I don't think I've ever seen a comic Spidey with puffy webbing, so I 100% agree with that suggestion.

No matter which style you go for, if you also like to have strong colour to your suit, I'd look into having it printed on coloured lycra. I'm looking into that, so I don't have to worry about colour fading. (That's another thing that bugs me about printed movie suits--they're printed on white lycra, so stretching the suit makes the colours washed out.)

Comic. Simple, clean, recognizable and won't hold as much "That movie sucked!" feeling to it for most people, if they didn't like the film it was from.

I know you're working with a print, but I feel like the comic book print has a bit more freedom considering, if you want a movie suit and want it to look like the movie suit, it has to go through more processes.
