Collectible knives?

I have a cased John Wayne commemorative Bowie knife I got years ago, problem is it didn't come with a key for the locking glass lid. (the photo below was taken from an online auction listing)

These were made in Spain in 1990 for The Franklin Mint. I've tried contacting FM about trying to get a replacement key, and I've also asked on a John Wayne Collectibles Facebook page and I've gotten nothing but crickets.

I don't suppose anyone here might have any ideas? I hate to destroy the case trying to get it open just to handle the knife. The key in the photo looks almost square, I seem to recall the listing say a 7/64" hex key could be used but I tried that and either it doesn't work or I'm just inept

Thanks in advance

Have you tried picking it? Given how relatively simple the key looks it shouldn't be too difficult. Obviously it's not the perfect solution, but if you just want to get into it without breaking it, it might be worth a go. Once you've got it open it wouldn't surprise me if you'd be able to replace the lock with a new one.

I hadn't thought of picking it, but thinking now how the key seems to be square ended I wonder if I couldn't just get a cheap set of Robertson drive screwdriver bits and try those.

That looks very nice and it is well displayed in the case. We are not allowed sharp objects (or replica guns) in the UK so we are down to collecting plastic scissors. Only A 'Hole thieves and drug dealers are allowed to run around with real knives and guns. Britain, a real fun free zone full of miserable people (and A 'holes).

Now now, that's not quite true, we can own knives and replica guns (they have to be certain colours unless you're VCR act except) and you should see my plastic scissors collection, some of those things are absolutely deadly. I used my most fierce plastic scissor to cut straight through a piece of very thick paper the other day!!

Also we're not all miserable people and ********. :)

Sorry, I was in a bit of a bad mood and in agony with a shoulder injury. I broke my favorite plastic scissors as well. I was very miserable and acted like an a' hole. Jeez, I fit right in don't I?

Don't even worry about it, we all get frustrated sometimes, maybe get yourself a new even bigger pair of scissors to make yourself feel better. :)
