I wrote him a letter a few years ago, and his wife wrote me back a very thoughtful letter in reply, saying he was too frail to respond, but that he was grateful for the letter and my appreciation of his artistry. Even though she didn't answer my questions, it was a nice acknowledgment that he had read it, and was pleased to have studio scale builders doing work that honored his legacy.
