CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

LFL should replace Kathleen Kennedy with Dave Filoni... immediately
Everything this man touches turns to gold.
I love Dave. But he's still got aways to go for live action. Everything he does in animation is great. But as of right now his Mandalorian episodes were some of the weakest. Though eventually I wouldn't mind him getting to try his hand at a another film. I have a feeling Kathleen probably is working that way with him.

As you brought up things that wouldn't happen, I was reading some discussion this morning on another site, & someone mentioned Anakin slaughtering the Younglings. It was asked then how would people feel if it was revealed that Anakin actually saved that group instead.

Made some of the TLJ thread look like A HELLO KITTY love fest.
I'm not sure how that would fit in. Obi-Wan says he saw a recording of Anakin killing younglings.

So I think I can finally find the right word to describe the difference in past lightsaber duels & this one... "WEIGHT'.

The characters felt like they had weight to them. The lightsaber strikes felt like they landed & caused momentum transfer.

Incredible.

I REALLY hope there's some BTS footage released of the entire MoCap sessions.

Exactly!! You can really see parks footwork

When he jumps his legs do alittle kick

Great seeing his work again on screen

Most importantly, George Lucas was Dave Filoni's mentor.
Filoni's reverence and respect for Lucas really shows through his work, unlike people who were in charge of Sequel Trilogy.

I actually really like the episodes he directed.
That said, I think Filoni may work best as a producer / studio president who gives clear direction for SW in general, as opposed to day-to-day filmmaker.

I don't know. There's got to be a reason why George appointed Kathy and not Dave.
And it's not like Dave hasn't been involved in the ST.

Lucasfilm IPDG

IMO, Kennedy has the corporate background. Filoni is a creator. Dave probably wouldn't WANT that kind of hassle if he's like most creative types.

I think Favreau would be a better choice to navigate the minefield of both sides of that coin.

It makes me wonder who they have in mind to replace Kennedy after her contract is up?

When I take a little time and think about it, I wouldn't want Dave in the LFL President job. He would have to deal with all those other non-Star Wars and business related issues. Dave needs to be in a position that puts him as the person overseeing the creativity and development of all future Star Wars related projects. You got to think there is something to that when you consider how Favreau seems to be utilizing Dave in Mandalorian.

Cool bit of info I just saw-

Lauren Mary Kim is the stunt person that did Ahsoka's MoCap, & she's also the double for the Armorer's fight in The Mandalorian's season finale.

She needs props as well as Ray Park for this episode.

At first, I wasn't sure if the Force Scream that we heard when Ahsoka and Maul began their duel was actually Maul's, or if Sidious' scream when he engaged the Jedi actually echoed across the Galaxy, but I'm thinking it was Maul's. Regardless, hearing it made me freaking on edge the rest of the episode. We know that Order 66 occured right after Palpatine dueled the Jedi. It's literally down to any moment now...

Well, Obi Wan said he was on his way to Utapau to deal with Grievous.. we're only hours to order 66. Also, during Rebels they mentioned that once the Republic came, they never left. They turned into the Galactic Empire.. man this is some of the best Star Wars in years...

We know Maul survived order 66 based on what we see of him on Rebels.

I'm speechless. These past 2 episodes have to be some of the best Star Wars content we've ever been blessed with. The animation is STUNNING and the suffocating feeling of the events that are about to unfold that looms overhead...The ending of this episode was chilling - waiting for next week is going to be so hard!

The fight scene between Maul and Ahsoka blew me away. I love how Maul is actually kind of a good guy here and the only one with the forsight to see what is truly happening. It really shows the Jedi's arrogance, refusing to believe the Sith even when they are telling the truth. My heart broke for him when he was captured and he screamed about how they're all going to die. He's probably terrified to be in the hands of the clones, given he knows what's about to happen. Surely he isn't spared from Order 66...

Who else noticed a particular crime syndicate leader from Solo?? Also, the Night of a Thousand Tears apparently takes place during the Siege of Mandalore, where Republic gunships killed Mandalorian recruits. At this point, young Din Djarin is likely on Mandalore after being taken in by Death Watch...

I liked the fact this episode also made the Ahsoka/Vader duel in Rebels more powerful emotionally too. The fact that after all those years after Maul laid it out for her, Ahsoka still didn't believe him until the point it was an inescapable fact, that she had to face.

If that were true, wouldn't they target Vader & Sidious as well?

Text of General Order 66 (which, so far as I know has not been changed, despite the Republic Commando books being taken out of canon)
Order 66: In the event of Jedi officers acting against the interests of the Republic, and after receiving specific orders verified as coming directly from the Supreme Commander (Chancellor), GAR commanders will remove those officers by lethal force, and command of the GAR will revert to the Supreme Commander (Chancellor) until a new command structure is established.

It's only later that Sidious expands the Jedi hunting to Force users in general.
