CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

I think they are saving all the 'good' episodes for November Sweeps.

I only half-watched this third episode, more underwater stuff, but
I was bummed to see Captain Tarples die.

I was waiting for Jar Jar to say "Yousa thinkin all wesa Gungans lookin da same? Well mesa thinkin all you Naboo lookin da same, toosa!"

Regarding the spoiler, you don't actually see him die. He thought he was going to die, but might not have. I just want to fast forward to the rumored Republic Commando episode!

No I would say they left no doubt that the fella in question is sleeping with the fishes... ooo too soon? :lol

Nah, they totally croaked him, this show doesn't pull fake-outs like that (at least, they haven't) - dead is dead. But did you really have that much invested in...er...that character though? I mean he has a couple of goofy lines in That Particular Movie then isn't much of a force in this episode. Nice to see the promotion though, given the fact that even JAR-JAR got to be a general just for essentially showing up. I'm just not sure why their death got the reaction it did.

And while TFN's review may be saying "witch doctor", Rish-Loo is Richelieu from The Three Musketeers - guy whose the advisor to the king, but is actually manipluating him, and in fact is in league with the bad-guys. Nice little reference.

Tonight's episode was so-so. Best line so far, possibly ever: "Great... It's gonna be another one of THOSE planets!" in reference to the "cutsie" aliens.

Loved that line!, best bit about the show, even my son is getting bored with it now, after it finished he said, man boring, no fighting again!!.

I'm thinking this may (should?) be the last season. Like I said elsewhere, the first season was good and showed promise. The second season was better, starting and ending very strong. The third season had it's moments, but was disappointing overall. So far, the fourth isn't much better.

I agree...nothing to write home about. It seemed to be aimed at 3-4 year olds :confused I know their "target" audience is young, but at least it's usually grade school kids, not ones still in diapers:unsure

Next week..........

Yeah that was great! :lol At least someone doing the show acknowledges how annoying some of the characters are.

I also thought this episode was pretty lame. Even my 8yo. nephew said it was boring. The Clonetroopers were the only redeeming part of this episode.

Yeah...I don't know how to use spoiler tags but I'll try to be vague: if you've seen this you'll know what I mean:

They couldn't have held their breath long enough to deal with the problem?! They have computers but no gas masks?! Pretty thin plot point.

I wonder if they're trying to rope in the little girl demographic. There was a lot of "Barbie aisle at the toy store" vibe in this episide.

I don't get the language rules of Star Wars.

The above ground creatures who have technology and interact with the republic enough to deserve help when they get an earthquake on their planet can't speak basic, but the root creatures and the 'I can't eat you' fairy queen hidden below speak it fluently? huh?

It made sense with the Ewoks, because they were isolated, but this just seemed like a way to make the creatures seem stupid and those below more intelligent. Maybe I'm being too picky, but it just bugged me.

My kids said they were misled by the previews into thinking there was going to be a battle too so they were disappointed by that aspect.

I think they showed a LOT of next week's episode in the preview for last week. It's really a two show arc, but it was misleading.

I also agree about the language thing. I was wondering why they made those aliens seem primitive or stupid when you see them in the background in the Prequels (at least Tatooine). One drove a podracer so they can't be that primitive. Yes he crashed, exploded, and died, but he could operate the thing.

Also, one of those little dudes is a kick ass jedi in the comics. I know that CW supercedes all other EU officially, but they made those critters way too annoying.
