Classic Venom/Symbiote Spider-man zentai build

Hey all! I'm new here and definitely new to costuming, but I've been taking a lot of inspiration from posts here and I really wanted to make something cool for Halloween this year. I've always preferred the classic black spider-man look with the big white spiders, so I'm going that way rather than trying for the newer film style.

I'm taking a LOT of cues from SpiderSparrow's tutorial as well various suggestions I've seen and some ideas from another Spider-man I found here. That one is actually what led me to the RPF. :)

So I got this suit from milanoo.com. I've ordered several zentai from them in the past and they have pretty good service despite the sometimes iffy English with it being a Chinese wholesaler.
I actually got another of this suit from them before, but I didn't use any custom measurements so it came out a bit too big. This time I gave them my measures and it's much better, although for some reason the gloves are on at the wrong angle so the arm fabric twists. Oh well. I couldn't sew to save my life so this is my compromise.
The first one also had the spiders on front and back and this one doesn't for some reason. :/
I asked them to leave the eyes open so I can add my own lenses later on.

So I'm starting my mods with the shoes, because obviously being able to walk around without stupid sneakers or something is important.

I got these simple canvas slippers from amazon and I'm currently working on separating the uppers so I can then glue the soles to the suit to the canvas inside.

More to come!

OK, so I got my shoes glued together. It was more of a pain than I expected because the slippers I got were cheap and the insole and canvas were separate pieces that I had to glue together in order to hold their shape in the suit's feet while I glued on the soles. But anyway, it got done!

Plastic bags so I didn't glue my feet in the suit.
I used most of a tube of E-6000 adhesive. It's good stuff, but it's very easy to make a mess with because it always wants to leave a string behind when you try to cut off your squeeze.

I sat/stood to keep pressure on the soles while the glue dried for a couple hours and got through bunch of episodes of Attack on Titan in the mean time.
And they're attached! Realized after the initial gluing that I needed to make a seal around the edges to keep it all solid and prevent dirt and stuff from wedging inside, so that was an extra night of letting glue dry.

But it's done and sealed and now I can just walk around in it. :)

My next step is adding some texture to the fabric so it doesn't look so dull. The classic comic book symbiote Spider-man is obviously just pitch black, but the movies definitely did something right by adding a pattern, so I'm gonna try for the honeycomb deal with silver paint and hope it looks good. I'm also debating doing web lines in metallic black puff paint I got, mostly for the texture and to kinda make it stand out.

But anyway, I found these exact same pot holders that SpiderSparrow used, as I referenced in my last post, so I'm totally just gonna copy him with that method.

wow im surprised about milanoo ive come across it before but always thought they were sketchy or scamming in many ways.. we should have a thread establishing reputable sites to order suits and materials from

Yeah, I've been into zentai for awhile so I've tried a few different sellers. I ordered one on ebay once and the seller completely misunderstood what I wanted, so never went there again. But I've always had decent results with Milanoo and they're probably the cheapest option. It definitely pays to order with your specific measurements because I have had a couple that were oddly sized. Arms and legs too long or short. I don't know what they base their tailoring on...

OK, so I finally got around to finishing the honeycomb bit. Between work and everything, I've been busy and also procrastinating. But anyway!

I started by making cardboard cutouts of my hands to shape the gloves so it would be a bit easier to print on them and then just kept going all the way up the arms and across the rest. Also taped up the big spider to keep that white, obviously. It came out kinda patchy, and blotchy in some areas where I wasn't as careful. It really doesn't look great, but this is my first foray into my own costume work and it's only for Halloween parties. If I were planning on cosplaying, I'd be a lot more meticulous.
For the feet, I had to put my feet in them to hold the shape, and for the head I had to get a little more creative.

I rigged together this mask with some a syrup bottle and some other plastic stuff to create something vaguely head-shaped. It's crude, but it served the purpose of giving me something more shaped to print on. I specifically wasn't trying to make the hexagons line up for this and just left it as honeycomb patches. Not perfect, but it does the trick.

So here's the try-on with the honeycomb done. Like I said, kinda splotchy in places, but I'm not going for perfection. I definitely think I'm gonna add the black web lines to give it some more texture and help draw the eyes away from the less evenly painted areas. I only have a few more days until the first Halloween party, so I'm gonna be spending all my afternoons on that and getting my eye lenses in order.

Also, sadly, I definitely don't have the build for Spider-man. I've been attempting to trim down a bit, but I'm definitely not going to be in Peter Parker shape for Halloween. So we're just gonna pretend that Spidey's been busting a bit less crime lately and lost some definition, haha.

Cool man im trying the same thing but i started with one of those plain black skin suits and made my own lenses and whatnot. I was gonna do the same honeycomb technique but in a glossy purple to give it a symbiote look but it didnt quite work like i imagined and to do it on the whole suit would be madness, a bit to meticulate for me, so ive decided to honeycomb as muscle shading, it'll give a bit of texture and well muscle shading haha. And since im working on making abs and chest with sculpy to put under the suit cuz im not in that shape either. I'll leave the arms natural for now. And im working on the stencil for the spider. Well thats about it, wondering if theres any update to yours bro cheers
