I thought I'd share the results of the Thermal Detonator build project I've just finished.

As usual (due to the picture storage restrictions on here), the step by step progress and commentary are on Tumblr. Just look for beachcomberbob and #thermal detonator.

That looks fantastic. Love props and things from Jabba's palace. Can't wait to see it all painted and weathered.

I don't know why these messages aren't getting to me (they used to), so apologies for the late reply. http://beachcomberbob.tumblr.com/ will get you to my projects page.

Kit offering?
Sadly, no. This was a one off as a gift for someone. But you can view the step-by-step build at http://beachcomberbob.tumblr.com/ and maybe tackle building one yourself.

The only thing not easily available off the Internet is the thumb actuator that I cast myself out of aluminium filled resin.

That's it in it's finished form.

No weathering. I've gone with the 'factory fresh' look, as produced by Merr-Sonn Munitions. Imagine that it then passed through the hands of various owners (in the Star Wars universe), arms dealers, mercenaries and the like, until it finally ended up in the possession of Boushh, as a rusty, barely functioning relic.

Looks awsome!! is that some meterials painted chrome or is is actual metal?

The shell is real polished steel. The inner ring is a section of grey ABS plumbing pipe adapter, which I sprayed with some pewter coloured hobby paint. It weighs in at just over 1lb (just under 500gms) so it feels like a real grenade. Check out the step-by-step build at http://beachcomberbob.tumblr.com/ , where I fully explain all of the parts and materials, and the techniques I used to assemble them.
