Civil Protection From half life 2

Over the past 3-4 months I have been working on Civil Protection (Metro cops) costumes from half life 2. I already made three helmets out of car filler and .... well they were alright for my first attempt at something like this. [/SIZE]

I used a pep file I found a while back and filled a thick wall with car filler and fibreglass mixed together around the inside of the helmet. And started the ruthless task of sanding -.-, this did take most of the time up.

I also had 3 the Civil Protections outer jackets to make. For this I had to alter a sewing pattern for a vest.

After that more sanding and filling.

And then using a higher grit of sand paper. And now ready for casting

Then I moved onto the casting side of things as myself, twin brother and my friend are going as three Combine Civil Protection Officers. So I did my research and watched a lot of youtube videos and found what I need to do and where to get the stuff.

I started off by getting the silicone and Applying a thin layer to the whole helmet (on my mums hob, she wasn't pleased :eek)

After that I added some thickener to the mixture and pretty much pasted that all over, adding in 2 keys on each side, and then repeated this again putting in more keys on (I actually ran out of thickener so I had to wait a couple of days :confused

After ALLL that, work had to be started on the mold shell. So I used a layer or two of plaster bandages over the silicone mold.

I applied car filler and fibreglass mixture to the bandages to strengthen the shell.

Then it all got pulled apart and I was very pleased with the detail left by the silicone.

So then My Older brother and I poured in the polyurethane casting resin and got our first pulled out :D .

It's a little tight in places but other then that I’m very pleased.

Next trimming and sanding, painting, looking badass :) (oh and letting my wallet recover)

phew so just finished the casting stage :D i hate 4 of these now and I only need three, oh well ( i'll post the painting soon )

So time for an update me thinks, (would of updated earlier but been busy ¬¬)

After trimming and painting the helmets were finished, but still not happy with the out come of the rest of the costume (apart from the combat vest, i love that)

But never the less us three went to the expo and everyone loved the costumes, makes that hard work all worth it.

Some awesome pics there, love the 3rd and 6th... A job well done on the costumes, I look forward to seeing the updates.

So it's update time :) Not that exciting but there updates none the less :D

I decieded to re-sculpt the back of the helmet as thats the section that hurt our heads while wearing the helmets.

I used amounts of "Aves Apoxie Sculpt" First time using anything like this and it's rather easy to apply.

PICT0049-1.jpg

All I did was apply it to the back "Plated" Section and on the ends "Band" section that stretches over it.
