Cheapie Base for Space 1999 Eagle

Okay, I know it's not to proper scale and I know it's far from accurate, but I wanted an inexpensive base for my IP Eagle, so I took a lid from a paper mache box I found at Hobby Lobby (hobby store, like Michaels) and cut the back off an inch or so so it would fit on my shelf, and then glued strips of poster board cut at various widths along the edge, painted it, and voila, instant cheap-o base.

If I could find similar lid in plastic, I would consider doing another one, but I have no idea where you would find a landing pad shape/base made from plastic -- anybody have any ideas?

No idea where you would find a plastic lid that large but I thought I would tell you, great job on the display :thumbsup! As you said it's not to scale but it sure does work well for the model.
I like it so much that I hope you don't mind if I use your design as a basis for mine :)
Looked through your collection too, great stuff there as well.

I think it goes very well with the eagle.
Good job.

LOL! I have no copyright on the design, so if u wanna make one yourself, have at it -- that's why I posted the pics :)

Mine is a little rough -- as I said, I threw it together in about 2 hours total over the weekend...I thought about spending a little more time adding the weathered panels and little black rectangles/dots to the red-orange cross pad, but didn't find the time...but it looks better than the generic rectangular off-the-shelf model-car display case I had it in previously.

If anyone does one, would love to see how yours turns out. With a little extra effort, I suppose you could even add landing lights to it.

To get it so you can add an acrylic cover to it you could put it on a square base and put a thick layer of plaster all around it and then drip water on it to simulate craters like Moon Base Alpha was done.
