Cheap POTC coins!!!

My wife took me to Orlando today for my birthday and while we were there we hit the mall and ended up in the Disney Store. They had a chest full of plastic POTC coins and for $4.50 you could cram a pouch full of them. I managed to fit 12 of them. They look pretty damn good IMO. He's a scan of a couple of them with the MR and Disney World coins

Not 100% accurate but this may be a cheap way to fill a display. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Great find. I am unfortunatley aways from Orlando up here in Arkansas. :cry I have been looking for some display coins for along time. If anyone is near, PM me. This is great for a display. Is this just the Orlando stores?

the back of the Disney Store coin looks more true tp the First version of the "Hero" coin. Those hack marks on the "Aztec Design" are on the real Hero coins.
THe MR coin is more a "background" coin as its details on the backside are missing and it has blurred edges

The MR coin is a 4th+ generation copy off a real one.

I've been looking for Pirates coins at Disneyland (Anaheim) ever since the first movie came out, and I've been disappointed every time. We live less than 2 hours away and go several times a year. I'm now cautiously hopeful that our next trip will yield a bag of bounty like that.

They're grey plastic (i scraped away a little paint to find out) painted with a really nice gold paint. In the light, there's a slight metalic sparkle.

Just called the Memphis store and they do not have the coins. I talked to the manager and there is nothing scheduled to come in. :cry Is this just the Memphis store?

I scored six bags at $4.50 each = $29.50. I managed to nab 100 coins, so with tax that's about $0.30 per coin, and about 16 or 17 coins per bag.

NOT BAD.. Thanks for the tip.

For those with wild ideas about filling a treasure chest with 882 coins, it would cost about $265 bucks.

Here is what 100 coins look like:

I'm wondering how different the process is for making these coins compared to the "filler" coins in the movie...

very different
those plastic coins are mold injected and the coins in the movie were minted or casted. The First movie talks about they had thousands of coins minted.
