Cheap and easy way to make T-TRACKS

...someone has folded rubber and glued it together to make their T-TRACKS. CHEAP AND EASY.So I say to you. " I can't believe I didn't think of that." :confused

Dag nabbit! I've been beating myself up trying to think of a good way to make the grips for a saber I'm working on, and it turns out I already did! Years ago a knocked out a prototype out of aluminum flashing, folded like that, and coated with plasti-dip.

I'm telling you, if you're not hung up on total accuracy and are looking for cheap T-track. Go with the reflector spikes. They're about $1 each and you get a little over 2 feet of it. Here's what it looks like made into T-Track.

The one on top in real plastic T-Track (from saberfreak I believe) and the one on the bottom in made from a reflector spike. It's not 100% but for $1 you just can't beat it.

I have the closest thing to the screen used T-Tracks, which are actual cabinet tracks made of ABS. What I found are brown though, but a quick sanding and a spray can will take care of that.

Not as cheap as reflector spikes, and not as screen accurate as Gino's repro tracks, but they're actual found parts closest to the original you're likely to find in the whole world.

Shoot me a PM if anyone's interested.

Oh good. My T-Track is brown so that means I was right :lol

Yeah, the saberfreak T-track IS much better than the reflector spikes. If you want accurate, go with T-Track. If you want cheap and accurate enough, well there are options. Frankly, I wouldn't put reflector spike T-track on a Grflex but I did yuse it for my Holiday Special saber :lol

I'm definitely not hung up on total accuracy, or I wouldn't build hardware sabers. So, where might I find these "reflector spikes"?

I buy mine at dollar stores usually. I have seen them a few times at Wal-Mart and Lowes but they usually carry the replectors on the metal rods. Big Lots gets them in from time to time also
