Celty Sturluson Helmet help

Hey there! Does anyone have any tips for making a Celty Sturluson helmet from the Anime Durarara? Even if you're not familiar with it I will post pics and any advice would be much appreciated. Most of my experience with costume making has been with soft materials that can be sewn or hot glued so I'm not really sure where to start aside from buying a motorcycle helmet and spray paint =]

How about making foam ears and gluing those to a motorcycle helmet? Then you could just paint the whole thing.
