Celebrity jerks?

I met Anthony Daniels at a BBC event, it was a small event in a local cinema. There were only a few of us there, I asked him to sign my autograph book and he refused saying 'I don't know where it will end up' was totally uninterested and quite rude. Totally ruined Star Wars for me as he was my favourite character.

huh.. he seemed nice enough at the con photo op session for the brief minute I spent. But I think I have heard that he can be a bit of a jerk.
then again, I've heard the same of brent spiner, and he was rather nice. I was all set for him to be bitchy ;o).

I've never been a chris hardwick fan.

I worked for an organization which was heavily involved with the first Course of the Force (which has a different vibe now that Disney has taken over, but that's another matter) to which Hardwick contributed mightily; he may well be a jerk on air but he also gives of his time to the community and seemed like a decent, hard-working guy to us.

I've helped handle celebs at local cons too many times to count.

I have a few Anthony Daniels storys.

He was always nice to me let me say first.

One time he had just gotten in and he was very hungry. This event wasn't catered so we had food runners.

My buddy who kind of takes offense easily and really doesn't deal well with people who are anything but "common folk" had the task of getting food orders that day...

AD really wanted a deli style tuna salad sandwich...

At one time our little city had more restaurants per capita than ANY city in America...

WE HAVE PLENTY O' CHOICES...

BUT... my buddy brought AD subway...

Cue to a few hours later. I'm walking by and AD waves me over and as God as my witness asked me this verbatim:

"I must ask, have you ever had a subway sandwich before???"

Yes, it's not my favorite. I say...

"Well I had my first experience today... It was horrid!"

In TOTAL 3p0 voice on the last words.

I almost burst out into tears of laughter!!!

I then went to my friend who was bent out of shape cause AD acted like he was "above it".

To which I replied...

Well... He kinda is ya *******!

Seems to depend on what kind of mood he's in. I caught him in the crowd at one of the SW conventions way back in the day, he smiled and shook my hand, but we didn't get a chance to talk.

I met Brent briefly at a con recently. He was nice and having a reasonably good time, or at least putting on a good face.

Ya, when I met him I was braced for the worst. He was nice though! I mentioned Night Court and he seemed to appreciate that.

Met Sam Witwer and Chloe Dykstra at a club cosplay event last night.... Was buying a drink Sam looked over at me we exchanged "what's up" head nods I was buying a heinkein and like pointed at it and said want 1, he replies sure. I was cool bought 1 for him and Chloe who was standing next to him handed it both of them they graciously thanked me. The 3 of us ending up having about a 20 minute long conversation.... other cosplayers kept asking to take pictures and he kept turning back around and chatting with me.Overall a really good dude and someone I could definitely say you can be very comfy having a beer with. Same goes for Chloe

Brent rules. He treats us fans well, like it is his job....well, it is actually. We chatted for a few minutes at a con when I met him. He told me that sitting at those booth chairs all day can be exhausting, which I can understand.

Not me, But my karate teacher met Michael J. Fox when he came into his familys donut store. From what he told me he was a REALLY nice guy! I was so jealous too because Im a HUGE BTTF fan.

Not too many brushes with celebrities myself, but I will say that Florence Henderson is a delight. I met her briefly a couple of years ago and she was very, very friendly and gracious.

Oh, and Clint Eastwood gave me a dirty look once (it was actually a Dirty Harry look) back in the mid-80s. However, I had almost hit him with my car and fully deserved to be glared at.

I recently met Torri Higginson (Dr Weir, Stargate Atlantis) she was lovely. Signed my ZPM and then came and had photos in my Delorean Time Machine.

:lol Great story! :lol

A hell of a lot better than getting a "dirty look" from a 44 Magnum ;) :lol

Around 30 years ago, I was the overnight manager at a local Taco Bell and Chuck Norris used to come through the drive-thru a couple of times a week. There wasn't much going on, that late at night, so we'd sit there and chat for a while every time he came in. He was a pretty nice guy, at least at the time. I didn't realize until later just how close he lived to me.

I've met plenty of celebrities, both privately and a few at conventions, and most people I have nothing but wonderful things to share. A few years ago I took my younger sister to a convention in Miami (she really wanted to meet Nicholas Brendon from Buffy). It was Sunday and the place was dead. We got to have some amazing conversations with Aaron Douglas (super awesome guy), Mercedes McNab, Clare Kramer, and even got invited to lunch with Ernie Hudson. Sir Anthony Hopkins, Bruce Campbell, Halle Berry, Burt Reynolds... nothing but nice things.

The only celebrity I met who came off a complete jerk was Tommy Lee Jones. He wasn't rude to me directly, but I worked with him, and he had an attitude with nearly everyone.
