The Bad one:
I have only one bad experiance and that was with Burt Ward AKA Robin from the 60's Batman. The guy is arrogent and still thinks of himself as an "A" lister when he is in fact a "Z" lister
I have to admit, meeting some of these celebrities next week for New York Comic Con and I'm gong to go in scared lol.
I'm most nervous to meet these folks
Christopher Lloyd
Jason David Frank - the white/green power ranger
Curtis Armstrong and Robert Carradine - Louis and Booger
Val Kilmer
At Fan Expo in Toronto I heard a really bad story about Christopher Lloyd telling off a fan in an elevator.
I wonder if the reoccurring theme of "old" age has anything to do with some of the crankypants I've been reading about.
Small talk would probably be best if you just run into someone in an elevator or something. Just a "Hey, how's it goin'?" Let them know through body language that you recognize them, but otherwise just stay cool. Treat them like a normal person and they're very likely to treat you the same.Really? I thought he was really nice. I always take these "I met so and so at the grocery store and they were a jerk" stories with a HUGE grain of salt. For starters, the guy is probably just trying to get somewhere in peace.
Another big part of it is that "fan boys" can be REALLY off putting. Jump into an elevator with Lloyd and start rambling about how you always wanted to meet Doc Brown is not the best of tactics.
For recent convention in persons:
The Best:
-Ray Park was incredibly nice & genuine.
-Jeremy Bullock was a true gentleman & enjoyed interacting with fans.
-Doug Jones was one the the nicest actors that I have ever met.
-Robert Englund would literally give you the shirt off his back.
-Christopher Lloyd was really nice & briefly chatted while he signed.
The Worst:
-William Shatner is really arrogant & if you are not putting cash in his hand you don't exist.
-Peter Mayhew is really miserable which must be attributed to his poor health.
-Edward Furlong was on something & completely spaced out. :confused
Went to Calgary Expo this year and the entire cast of Star trek the Next Generation were there. I was super excited of course and paid the $400 to have an autograph session with the cast. Patrick Stewart was so rude and threw a little hissy fit because I asked him to personalize his auto. It was a group photo so he didn't want to. i was like uh...ok. Then I politely asked to shake his hand and didn't even extend my hand. He pushed his chair back and ranted about "Never touchthe actors!". I thought he was joking but nope as I hadn't even made a gesture. Brent Spiner and Gates McFadden were chatting with each other and didn't even look at me when I said thank you. Wil Wheaton was the only one during that session who smiled and chatted.
Now I wanted to cut Patrick Stewart a little slack and though maybe he was just tired, but during the $500 group photo session which I didn't purchase thank god, he gets up and says I'm done see you tomorrow. Leaving the rest of the cast just sitting there. There were only 10 people left in line so he really could have stayed the extra 10 minutes. one poor woman was in tears because her husband had take the day off work to drive her to the convention for the photo op.
Sarah Michelle Gellar... on the off chance she might show up at a BtVS event, she is noticeably distant and aloof, and has become a bit of a diva.
Jean-Claude Van Damme - Complete. Womanizing. Jerk. I met him at the Laguna Seca Raceway in CA (I was part of a volunteer contingent of base personnel from the Presidio of Monterey working gate security). He was there with his then-wife Darcy LaPier and his kids, and while they were off getting refreshments (less than fifty yards away), he started quite lasciviously making the moves on the female airman I was working with. I was about to jump in (and probably get my backside kicked) when she finally had enough and kneed him in the groin. Nothing ever came of it, though, as he didn't dare file charges for fear of files being charged on him in return.

The 'Giant' came to where I worked yesterdayNot exactly a celebrity, as he was only in that one movie, but nevertheless, he certainly stood out for other reasons. I'm 6'2" and he towered over me! Nice guy too- I got to help him
as he didn't dare file charges for fear of files being charged on him in return.

Perhaps he wasn't 'aware' of his misconduct!!!lol
If you don't get that, Google JCVD and 'aware'...:lol
Sean Kenney (Pike) - This one just baffled me. I had no idea who he was, but I remember talking to a guy on a Friday night, thinking he was just a fan. I was wearing one of the hoodies you get in high school with your name on the back. Then Saturday I'm walking around where the guests have their booths and as I'm walking he calls over to me by name and we talk again. I was impressed.
I worked at Walt Disney World in 1993-4, and was there for the famous Nancy Kerrigan "Mickey bashing". (She was riding in the parade, and was saying how horrible it was, how embarrassed she was to have to ride with Mickey, etc, and was MIKED the entire time.) I didn't meet her, but heard she was a "princess" the whole time. (Found a video clip! Fluff Pieces No. 23 - 1994 Lillehammer, Figure Skating - YouTube )
