Cardassian Armor?

Gone but not forgotten.
I wouldn't have time to do this till early summer, but what do you guys think?

The real armor was made from a self-skinning polyfoam called EST-40, but I don't see why they couldn't be done in thick latex with cloth reinforcement on the inside. They would be like heavy rubber T-shirts. :D I'd also include the side and elbow plates and the wrist comm so all anyone would have to make is their boots and bodysuit. :)

This is something I'd be intereste in and have wanted to see done. Is the sculpt going to be your original or might you have a source for something with screen used lineage?

Right now, it would be my own sculpt, but one of my buddies told me the other night that a batch of screen used ones were sold during the Christies auction, so if I could somehow get ahold of one of those, it would speed things up immensely, not to mention putting to rest any worries about accuracy. :)

Sarge,
There is a lot of companies that make that type of material. They just call it something else. So just describe to them what you are doing and they can hook you up. Good hunting. :)

This is probably a huge leap of faith, but did anyone here end up with one of these from ItsAWrap that they'd be willing to loan out if this moves forward? :D

(figured it couldn't hurt to ask... :p)

I don't own an original :( but just wanted to throw my $.02 in.
A very cool project - I could be interested...

Yeah, right now, I'm trying to think how to do this the most cost effective way possible... It occured to me a few days ago, that an ultracal mold (to do them in latex) would be a freakin' 75 - 100 pound BOULDER, so now I'm thinking of maybe a light fiberglass mold that could have tinted silicone or urethane rubber ran in it- they're a lot more durable than latex anyway.

why dont you contact some of the guys who do the batman armor, and see how they do it?
same principle really.....
